Have a question for all you mechanics out there in sled land. I was going to pop off the clutch (for service) from my 97 Summit 500 (S body). I got the clutch to split okay but when I went to slide it off the crank I could not get it off because there is not enough room between the sidewall of the tub and the crank. The only way I can see to get it off is to loosen the motor mounts to allow the motor to be moved side ways enough to allow the clutch to come off the crank. Any ideas out there on how to get the cluthc off? Thanks in advance for responses.

Are you using the clutch bolt that you are supposed to, to get it broke off of crank. There is no reason that you should have to move the engine to get it off. Did you push the side of the belly pan towards the engine from past mishap. Where abouts are you located in central alberta.

pull the outer cap and outer sheave off (keeping them together) and then pull the inner sheave and shaft off the crank stub. Keep the arrows aligned when you stick it back together. :)

Thanks Modman that makes perfect sense to bring the clutch off in one piece there will be more than enough room for the clutch to come off the shaft. It is going to be a bear to break off the inner sheave, might have to do the water or grease trick. Yes skibeadoo I have the proper clutch puller bolt just a little rusty on procedures. Next time the sled is in town I will pop the clutch off and give it a proper service but that may be a long way off, my youngest son has just discovered the joys of sledding so he gets to drive the 07 handme down sled. My oldest son just bought his own sled and I was going to sell the 07 but my wife told me to hold off on that idea because we may still be using the 07; she was right again:rolleyes:

Thanks for the tips guys much appreciated
