95 Polaris Indy 500 Start But Won’t Run Issue

Alright so buddy bought a 95 Polaris Indy 500 with a new engine. A new fuel pump has also been installed. When we pulled the gas lines to the carb and pulled it over the sleds getting fuel to the carbs. Carbs have been gone through about 7 times and seem to be good. Only way the sled will start is spraying fuel into the carbs..... she will run for about 5 seconds and stall. I feel bad for him as I run a new sled and am not very familiar with carbs and he doesnt have snow and mud. Any ideas on what it could be?

Sounds like a carb issue, have some who knows carbs look at and set them for you.

Is gas getting into the float bowl?

Gas to the float bowl is first. A simple hose and sucking can test the float needle to see if its holding pressure. Idle jet is the small jet and usually to the side and down in a hole. Main jet is the centre one and has the needle going down into it. If all things dont hav gunk in it it should do something.

However taking he carbs to a shop is quick and easy and they will go through them quick and hand back to you to throw on.

If he brings me the carbs I'd do it.

keep spraying fuel in ,,takes a few seconds for fuel to get into the carbs..dont be bringing the carbs to a dealer. at $120 hr or more.someone on here might be able to come to you.

if you blow into your vent line and pressure up fuel tank it will push fuel through the fuel pump and into carbs once carb bowls are full fuel will stop moving in lines and should be good to go had to do that to get my old sled going after I removed and cleaned the carbs

Sounds like plugged pilot jets, sometimes they plug up so bad you need a small needle to clean them out, won't start or idle until there cleaned, hope you get it running, good luck.
