I had a 1995 550cc cougar mountain cat it was a really good great machine, the engine are strong and get great mileage. I had changed the spring and the weights in the clutchs so they engage at about 4200 rpm, which help out to get out of deep snow. The ride on them is not the bad for the year of the snowmobile.

I bought a 1996 550cc cougar mountain cat for the wife a couple of years ago, she loves it great machine for her, handles the trails great and goes throught the deep snow well. I never have to worry about her on it. I did change the ski's to wide plastic ski off a 1998 powder special, seems to make the machine float over the snow alot nicer.

Awesome sled!! I had a 95 550 Cougar it was my first mountain machine I put many many miles on it and sold to a friend who still uses it all winter :) Carbed was a bit of a pain in da a$$ though. Seemed like a powerful monster compared to my lil prowler 440.
