so i picked up 2 early 90s yammys, i know what the heck was i thinkin?
so mke and the son strted fixin one up for riding this season. makin 1 out of 2 heres some pics of our progress. just needs a seat and all is good. now will post more when totally done.
the first pic as you can see the tunnel was cracked and bent. straigthened it and welded. made up some tunnel stffiners and "snow eliminators for boards" also removed the original rear skid and went through it. stretched it out to a 136x1.5 dropped the rear susp about 2" and slid the whole skid back 1.5" made a tunnel ext and swapped out all the plastics. added an aaen pipe, freakin sounds wicked for a 600 single pipe. 3" bar riser and the mountain bars off the basement summit. lol. couple more minor mods and she will be ready to rip. he cant wait for snow.

Hi I owned a 91 exiter, put 8000 km on it, great sled a couple of things to watch for.
1.It should have liquid heated carbs, turn on the heat at about -10 and if there is a lot of power snow, this will stop them from freezing up and running rich. don't forget to shut the valve off when is warm.
2. use the new style yamaha cog belt but, if you have a used belt it would be better or shim out the secondary.
3. on a warm day in deep snow take the right side cover off it will be cooler and run alot better.
4 on warm days it will start to boog, take the time to drop the needles if you have the round slide carbs.
FYI
Don
