I also got to rode the 850 turbo I thought it was awesome. Turbos always use more fuel doesn’t matter what brand more air equals more fuel. Doo is going to sell a pile of these things not on one but likely will be in future. I just hate the doo rear skid but I suppose anything can be changed.

Every doo turbo guy I spoke with said they burn wayyy more fuel. So, I guess that really needs to be sorted out exactly what that means, but 10L more is a lot. Most tunnel cans are 10L. Therefore, if you are riding with NA sleds, you basically do not have extra fuel. Yep, most days probably doesnt matter, but there are days I need to dump. Lot's of guys do. No way do I want to haul 2 jerry cans. So, only point is, for guys that ride hard all day with a bunch of guys without turbos, they will be going home early or sitting a bunch at the end of the day.

Yah But I think maxwell is thinking correctly. That turbo probably does not stop cause of everyone wanting to take a turn. The BD 850 I used to ride with burned a more than my 850, not bad tho.
I expect the factory turbo to be the same or better than a aftermarket kit.

i wouldn't say horrible. One would have to compare engine hours or KM for the day to really say. The machine never stops, when your not riding it your buddies are riding it LOL. But yes, it certainly does use more fuel, being boosted it has too. 5-10L a day more for the extra fun is totally worth it for most. I have found oil consumption very similar. Oil consumption is a factor of throttle operation so you will see that the 154 uses substantially more oil than the 175. Just all about how much full throttle your dealing with and the snow conditions. i find the 165T uses about the same to a full tank of fuel.

This makes sense for sure.
You are getting typically 15-20% more hp than the NA model. You should expect to burn close to that much more fuel and not be surprised about it.
And also pretty sure there are friends in the saddle all day so the sled never stops.
More power + more gas = way larger fun factor.
No denying that this sled will forever be seen as a huge change in performance - well worth some more gas.

Burning for fuel then NA ??!!!!
Are some of you guys that daft ?
Sorry but the ones that are complaining shouldn’t buy one .
Fuel is what helps keep the internals cool with boost and it’s required to make power .
Does your truck burn more when using the power ??
This sled won’t burn anymore then NA on the trail if not into boost .
Set your clutch’s up to shift out on trail keeping rpm lower and speed up and it will be great .

If you aren't mashing it to the bars the 850T will get the same milage as a NA 850. My buddy and I rode out to 100 lakes 160Km, powder was just 3-4" on setup base and he was on his 2019 175 an ran out of fuel 2km before me, I ran out at 154.4 km . I was babying it to see what kind of mileage I could get. In deep pow throttle pinned mileage is 1/2. I am happy with the amount of oil burnt. Sleds will overheat on whooped out trail packed down but not ice where you can't go that fast. Both my other buddy and another guy on an expert overheated going up and down the other day. If you are riding and your polaris buddy is always stuck trying to keep up he won't burn as much gas. These sleds are so fun, it's hard to stop riding with it pinned.

Yep, a boost gauge is no different than a vacuume gauge, both gauges can be used to minimize fuel consumption.

yes, last trip up renshaw the trail was in such good shape at 80+kmh you are into the boost for no reason. for those long rides in having some sort of quick adjust clutching system would be handy. or a quick gear ratio change lol

The clickers are a good tool for that, but with those new flyweights, the 850T is on clicker 1 from the factory.

I meant the aftermarket turbos that Fred was talking about.

Apparently Fred had some issues by the posts but a lot of the new turbos run hassle free.
With Doo raising the bar it is a matter of how much power you want, how much risk you want and how much you want to spend.
The Doo is for sure the safe route, aftermarket still holds the power advantage.
All are big $$, $$$.
Just do a $/km and see what you get - $6 just for depreciation.

Once there is a second OEM turbo and 180hp is attained the aftermarket will mostly fade away.:twocents:
