The clutching for the 850 has taken a while to fine tune but I finally feel confident in the combinations that we tested.

Clutch kits include:

Primary Spring
Secondary spring
Set of adjustable weights 58-79 grams
Multiangle helix.

Price : $495 Plus GST

We have belts made to our specifications to match this clutch kit. OEM will work but won't be as consistent. These belts are available for $149.95

This kit improves bottom end response and acceleration, higher top end track speeds and lower belt temps.

Just started following you on Facebook, did your weekend in Vale influence this kit?

It did. We geared the 850 really low to see how that would influence the clutching. 2.71 is too low for the new 850. It makes great power and needs more gearing than that. I still think the stock belt drive gearing is a little too high, but the chain case models at 2.52 is very good. I run my personal 174 at 2.59.

Good to see, and happy that it isn't priced at $700USD like another kit I saw recently. Very interesting that you have a custom belt and it costs about half of the factory belt.

What kind of track speeds are you seeing in the steep and deep or when your chopping the throttle?

We were at 6800-7000 feet and in 20" of fresh snow. Saw high 40's all day. Track speed will fluctuate with how much ground speed you carry, but pretty consistent 46-47 mph track speed.

We built this kit around these belts as I find the OEM belts very hard which require a stiff spring to hold them in the secondary. I have found strong gains going to a belt that doesn't slip, using softer springs with shallow angles to still achieve fast acceleration and high top end track speeds.

where is everyone having their speedo recalibrated after gearing it down? want to gear down my 163 3" also but then my speeds will be inaccurate.

sorry not familiar with where polaris speed sensor is located? if it reads the track shaft like a skidoo no adjustment would be necessary

On the 800 it reads the brake rotor on the jack shaft, not the drive. So gear change will affect the speed a bit.

The polaris sleds that are 3" have very good gearing at 2.52 final. I wouldn't gear it any lower.

ratio changes in the drive will effect it also. the dragons and 11-12 pros read speed off the driven shaft (driveshaft) the 13 and up are read off the drive (jackshaft) so any change made to gear ratio and drivers will effect the speedo reading.

Heehee I think I look at the gauges more than what's in front of me. I think it comes from the old days of digitrons and jetting and running on the ragged edge of meltdown pistonia.

I always liked to jet on the safe side, because its hard to watch that thing when you are trying to ride technical lines.
