850 Recoil Issues

This is a 2020, doo is telling me that this is a common problem as the 2020 recoils were over greased. And the it should happen again after the first heat cycle......

out with a new 850 owner over the weekend, very first hr of first day his recoil stopped working, but thank god the shot stayed together, put it in the shop at days end and by Moring worked fine, good ever since.. had the same happen to mine in 17.. manufacture never put grease i feel where it needed to be.. engine heat help get it there

I heat taped my 19 recoil before i even rode it. Stripped all the foam off the panels. Left the stock can on, and it still did this exact same thing on the first couple of rides, been problem free ever since thou. This is the main reason i got the shot, tired of replacing doo recoils. With only pulling the recoil once a day it should last the life of the sled i would hope. I did have to replace a shot capacitor already thou

what did you use for heat tape on the recoil? I’m just starting to have issues with my 850 after the engine warms up.

Hey Paul, Aluminum tape is what I use. You can get at the hardware store.

Perfect, that’s what i was thinking. I have some here at the farm already, will maybe tape up the one that’s on there now and try and see if that help. Or tape up the new recoil before i swap them out.
