i dont use the flowrites specifically i use the slp intake kit it mounts onto the plastics outside and connects with a gasket to the upper air box.

I got the SLP on mine and I still had problems with big snow left turns do you? It doesn't cut out like it used to it just sputters till I sweep off the snow off the SLP. I was going to add something more I'm trying to figure a way to get it from the right side?. I do like it when I have over the headlight snow issues :d

i put florites on in 08, right behind the carbs, in the airbox, also put foam around the outside of the air box and drilling a few air holes on outside pannel, so florites grab cold outside air, and no belt dust

never had any more bogging issues and have done this mod for many others

Teeroy, have you looked at doing an RK Tek drop in kit? Keeps you at 800cc, but claims 12hp gain with custom pistons and a new head... I wonder if the ECM reprogram boosts that number at all? I wonder if this kit would offer more bang for buck than an 860 or 880?

does anyone have one of RK Tek's power ups installed? How's it working?
is it just 2 ring pistons and a head? would you need to clutch for it? is there much notice in performance?

my buddy has it in his '08 with the ECM re-curve, his sled doesn't work any better than mine but has 'marked a few of the other '08 xp's in our crew. I was going to go that way if my jugs were still good, to go that route now is more expensive than going to a big bore.

Easy now...... you need to read the questions, not read into the questions. I have little time and experiance with 800R, and i have never stated or claimed that i did. I build off of a differant platform / brand right now.

If you want an 860, phone Toot's Performance at 780-720-1396. Most H.P. I have seen out of an 860. You will pay more, but he will actually put the time into porting that everyone else claims to be doing. His 860 with crankshop twins and a reflash hauls some serious azz!! He will actually give you what others claim to be doing.:d I have one of his ported 800r's with crankshop twins and an ecm reflash, was out in McBride last weekend and it pulls! I was more than impressed. He is a very small builder and doesn't stock engines on his shelf, but if you have time to wait, you will be impressed.

i have Kelsey's products on my Cat. They were on it when i bought it. i wouldn't know the differance because it was installed by the previous owner so i wouldn't notice any gains, i do know it rips pretty good....for the one time i rode it. its my Brides ride.

I'm running the drop in kit, head and reprogrammed ecm. It runs nice and is stronger than stock but 12hp might be a bit ambitious.

Thanks to everyone that has responded. I think I have made a decision.....buy a new shortblock and drop it in. dealer is giving me a pretty good price on one, lower than I have seen anyone post and lower than any other dealer I have called.

My biggest reason for doing so is because I just don't want the hassle of tuning another mod. of all the reports from peeps that have them, very few report trouble free setup. and if it doesn't make the power it is supposed to, you are pretty much chit out of luck as the builders are doing basically nothing to help other than provide their setup info, and if that doesn't work than it must be something the customer did to fawk it up. then there is the crank issue....if I go to big bore then I have to worry about the bottom end. with the shortblock I think it will provide some peace of mind as well as having a year warranty.

I have also talked to a few reputable shops and builders, and have dyno results of three kits. the peeps that gave me the best info were the ones via PM, because they either didn't want to publicly undermine the sales of kits by the builders, or didn't want to start another online bashfest or fight that has happened in almost every other big bore thread on teh intranets. to those peeps, I thank you.

the problems I see from going back to the stock mill are the single ring pistons, and the always nagging question of how long the bottom end will last before eating it's pigs. I guess after the experience with my last motor, I will just tear it down every 2000 miles and freshen it up.

oh how I miss the old bulletproof, 10,000 mile-before-any-headache rotary engines....we as the consumer are our own worst enemies.
