This is my second Exciter build and since my son decided he had to have the first one I had to do one for myself.
I have finally started to make some headway on this build.

It started out as a 79 Exciter but was very rough so decided to make some modifications and change things up along with a full Resto. Everything came apart, I decided the first thing to change was to strip the chassis and paint it black

this will really change the look of the sled

. I put new bearings in the skid, chain case and jack shaft. I added a Polaris coil over shock to the rear skid and started bolting her back up

. The next big job was the hood and I am changing the graphics to an 80

Just waiting for the heads to come back. Bumping the compression a bit. Also gutted the exhaust. (Pulled out one set of baffles) and sent out for ceramic coating.
I used a set of GPX front springs with the spreaders so will change the look and stance big time. powder coated everything and got it installed Starting to take shape now.

For now it is stock. Will be looking for a 1" at some point. It will be a prairie sled and for what it is works pretty well in stock form

Looks great so far. I really like the old yammy hoods, remind me of the Everest we had growing up.

There was an '89 Mach for $500 (with a new track!) w/ blown motor listed on Facebook for sale recently, really should have bought that. Could have modded that one over next summer.

It is nice to have something out back to work on. The purists won't like a mod build like this, and most of my restorations are back to original, but I really enjoy personalizing an old sled so it is different than all the rest. The funny part is back In the day you bought a sled and just rode it didn't really change much. Now we buy a new sled and as soon as it gets home, it's in pieces on the garage floor lol

Thanks Bud.
Gotta send out a big "thanks" to Gm3d.
He spun up a set of heads for me, so can finish off this engine now.

Also just got my seat back. Very happy with how it turned out. Went with an early 70's SR / GP Look

Guy in Edmonton who does custom bike seats. Volkers Upholstery. Stand up guy and does amazing work. On this seat the foam was ripped and missing all over and the metal seat pans were rusted out and wood was toast .

Spent 2 days on this thing and it is very tedious and time consuming to say the least. Finished off the chain case, dash, rear bumper, snow flap and mounted the seat. Since I painted the tunnel I decided to use traction tape on the foot well and 3 m clear tape on the vertical portion to prevent boot wear through to the aluminum. The hood is really going to finish it off. Working on the engine now. Got the heads and intake on. Waiting for the y pipe
