I would really prefer N/A, those supercharged unit drink fuel when in the throttle, and I like the throttle

Yep
But hp takes fuel and a big block will drink it as well . Lol
I keep mine down below 3600 rpm and not bad . Over that it starts getting thirsty as have the secondary’s coming on .
That 7.3 Ford would like fuel as well if tuned to 600 plus hp.
Nice motor I think it will be and it will show up in marine use shortly.

Thanks for the info I’m really interested in this engine if GM doesn’t put anything out to compete.

I am sure Indmar will have one in the next year as they sat around for years with nothing much until the last few years it seems .
Some nice packages coming out but pricing is gross . Lol

Will be interesting to see the 7.3 with a whipple on it, has to be coming from aftermarket. Feedback on ford forums is very positive on new motor and ten speed. Still not as good of fuel mileage as the new gm hd 6.6 gas but a leap year ahead of 6.2 with 6 speed.

The fast lane truck guys did a tow test up the Ike gauntlet hill with the 7.3 at max towing load. It was similar in time and mileage to the 6.2 at max load ( although 7.3 was 16 k trailer vs 12k for 6.2). Both were similar in mileage to the new 6.6 GM, but the GM was almost 3 minutes slower than the 7.3. Not a true scientific test I know, but a reasonable representation of the abilities of the different trucks.

Wow! 475ft lbs of torque! Lol No thanks, i prefer useful power. Not the power pickups need. Might work well in my super bee, right application, wrong breed!

Similar times and mileage but 16k load for the 7.3 vs 12k load for the 6.2 that’s apples to oranges.

Ike gauntlet foot to the floor with 16,000 lbs for 8-10 minutes Ford 2.2 mpg Chev 2.4 mpg.
Empty the ford did 15.1 mpg the chev did 16 mpg.
Loaded 16,000 lbs flat ground the ford did 5.6 mpg the Chevy did 6.9 mpg wind aided.

I’ve got the 8.1 litre with the Allison right meow, it’s perfect for my setup, but it will wear out one day I’ll be looking for another big block.

The Ike Gauntlet hill is an amazing road. Was on it in 2015. She really puts the vehicles to the test.

If bought with the correct gear ratio for application.
Wonder what ratios are available.
I would think 4:10 /4:30 ratio with that trans would be sweet if the trans had a good overdrive ?
