I'm so disappointed in society today. People just could care less about criminals anymore. Listening to the drive 106.7 this morning in red deer and during the news they say a guy tried to pick up a 9 year old girl on her way to school. Then said if you want to a description of the suspect go to our drive app. So getting hits on your stupid app is way more important than taking 10 seconds to give a description. What a joke. I could have been driving right beside this duesch bag and called 911.

Most don't care until it effects them directly. Problem one with society. Gone are the days of a sense of community and simply being a good person. Today it is look out for number 1 and stomp and everyone else around you. Not sure why, most people I see like that their life sucks lol. More plastic than a credit card. Oh wait I need to selfie.....

After that we can take a taxi ride with a rapist and after it gets dark we can head to the sandpit and watch people destroy stolen 4x4 trucks!

A guy gets caught here for armed robbery and they let him out on bail and he does it again. DUI's are also getting tossed out since our courts are too busy. When their letting armed robbers go, I'm thinking no one care about an exhaust.

Well unfortunately I think they are a little busy with the recent shootings in town, not to mention handing out speeding tickets, that's about the only 2 things that will get the RCMP's attention up here.

Although I don't necessarily agree/disagree how Mike handled the situation he does have a point. Work has brought many kinds of people to this city and unfortunately it has also brought all the vagrants. Population has greatly increased over time but I digress our police force has not kept up with the expansion and it seems like we have been short handed for quite a number of years. I can go for 2 weeks and only see 1 marked car, and for those that have drove in GP we are not that expansive.

There seems to be more important things on their agenda than chasing theft under $5000 hoodlums, and not to mention our judicial system here in town is a joke and the local presiding judge's can suck a dick for all the out on bail and promise to appear releases,.. most just skip.

The judicial system everywhere needs to restore faith back into the population, maybe introduce extremity amputation for theft and eye for an eye for murder.

You only use 911 calls for EMERGENCY REASONS, or you are just congesting the phone lines for someone who actually might need medical attention.

I just remembered something a family member told me one time who works along side the RCMP, if you are in need of reporting a theft, B n E or suspicious activity mention that that they might have a gun. It is their responsibility to investigate these calls as there is possible danger to the public.

you stated that 911 calls are for emergencies only....a crime in progress IS classified as a legitimate reason to call 911. Never commented on if the guy on a bike was worth the call, only clarifying that a 911 call is NOT ONLY for people needing medial attention

trust me I have had more than my share stolen. It sucks but thats the way it goes. Until the majority of people get sick of this and decide to change the laws so we can all protect ourselves and our property it is what it is and it will keep getting worse.

I have called before on numerous attempts to get a drug dealer caught in our neighborhood. In fact the whole street called again and again. He even lived in a school zone. We had hours upon hours of video we tried to hand over to the rcmp. Waste of time! Crackheads roaming the streets like zombies, stealing anything they can get their hands on. Luckily he finally overdosed and that was the end of it, the house got condemned.

Suspicious activity also clarifies for a call to 911. The police are obligated to serve and protect but I feel as a society we have a resonposibilaty to act as pillars of community to protect and serve our neighbors. I'm just saying a simple call to the police could have turned to be something bigger, maybe he killed a guy stole his bike and exhaust or maybe it wasn't stolen and he didn't have a second vehicle and was making a delivery. I dunno just saying down the line someone probably would appreciate the call was made. I've only ever had to call once and it was for a drunk driver running people off the road. Maybe it did nothing, maybe it saved someone. It could be paid forward to you one day.
