My wife's 2106 ram 1500 5.7L seems to eat about 1L every 3000km, did a quick search seems the hemi motors sometimes burn oil? Anybody else have similar problem? Seems nuts to me truck only has 45,000km used as daily driver not worked.

Same problem here. My work truck is a brand new 2018 2500 with the 5.7. Not only is this thing a pig on fuel, but having to put oil in a motor with less than 4000 km's is a bit of a concern. Oh and the fuel tank capacity says 31 gallons, i'm not sure if there is smaller tank size but i can't even stuff 90L from dead empty into the pos.

Yea that ain't right. I had like 350k on my last 5.7 with no oil consumption. Valve seals?

I have an '08 Hemi that consumes the same amount. I noticed oil around the spark plugs while changing them, so I replaced the valve cover gaskets to no avail. Turns out the valve stem seals are the culprit after having a mechanic friend snoop around at it. Been driving it with this oil consumption since I bought it over 100k ago, not sure how big of a deal it actually is.

09 Ram with the hemi burns a liter every 3000km. Same since I bought it at 80k, just turned 167k.

Yup, valve stem seals are the culprit... seems like the only oil consumption the hemi's get.... most never burn a drop between oil changes. I switched my own 2013 from 5w20 synth to 5w30 synth and change it every 7500kms, and it doesn't burn any oil....... we work on several fleet trucks and they're upward of 750000kms+ and no abnormal oil consumption at all

They all seem to puff out blue smoke when started. Or the exhaust manifold leaking like a pos
Every dodge I get into sounds like a old Detroit till they get oil pressure and the exhaust leak seals up lol

Every 5.7 I've had has started burning oil after 80k or so. And every one has had the infamous hemi tick, especially when cold.

We had the tick... warrantee replaced one side engine lifters at 16k then we had the tick come back other side lifters replaced at 23k. This truck I pity the person who owns it after I get rid of it (before warrantee expires). We also had the rotten smelling radiator hoses when they got hot (see google), they were especially nasty.
