Really high end cars and people with big cheque books people often get a full paint correction, 3m or similar self healing protection and then apply ceramic coating over that... costs about 5k but looks like you have 10 coats of clear on it its pretty cool.

My brother did a full wrap on one of his cars, was around 5g. I just want the clear film, and was thinking 5g ish.

I have bright green paint, so the rock chips show.

You don’t have to do all that for a truck though. The modern protection films look as good or better than the paint in some cases as some enhance the colour or flake in the paint and no more power polish or waxing to deal with. Initial paint correction would be nice but again it’s a truck.

Though when trucks are $100k for new HD diesels, $2000-2500 is marginal over the cost of ownership.

Like to get the range rover done, dealer quoted $3500 for front end to A pillars. Will need to shop in Kelowna area to see, didn’t know there was film options. Good info guys.

Lots of times its way cheaper to go to a vinyl shop that wraps vehicles and get them to do it. I think when we looked for my buddies GM it was $1700 for 3M at the dealer and Pixel Imaging in Calgary did XPEL for like 700. It was a much better quality product as well.

I wish I would have got my truck 3M paint protection. Now I have to pay for paint. That sand / blast rock they spread on the Highway traveling to the mountains is hard on paint and trailers!

Yes and it’s the water base paint doesn’t stand up at all .
It’s just another cost you need to budget for on every new vehicle.
Hard to believe they can get it that thin . Lol

You could do a color matched wrap with heavier vinyl.

I purchased a factory paint pen for my color code on both the Miata and the M3 ad the installers filled the chips/scratches before applying the xpel, if you get up close you can tell where the chips were but from 5 feet away you'd never know.

So have done some pricing and expensive stuff, do front edge of roof, whole hood and front fenders, bumper and headlights $ 3900.00

looks like the leader is lumar, life time warranty at any lumar installer, Expel is only warrantied at the dealer that installed it

did all windows for heat protection, little tint on the front 2, kid did his windshield ald worked out good, if the windshield makes the winter i will do the same. Truck faces south when parked.
