3000 Watt Generators, Which Brand, Why?

Good Day All,

I'm shopping for a 3000 watt generator. I want electric start for sure, remote start would be handy, wheels on it of course, and yes I know most of them are heavy as you know who.

Both Yamaha and Honda 3000 Watt are about the same price, Honda boasts a "cold start technology" and has no remote start option. Honda also now has a 3200 Watt Suitcase but it doesn't appear to have remote start, it has bluetooth capability for remote shut off, for fuel level monitoring (I believe) and for load monitoring.

Which one do you all run and why? How is access to the battery if for whatever reason you need to boost or charge it? How is it for changing the oil? Do any of them have hour meters on them?

I have a 2000 Watt Honda now (which is giving me some grief) but want a 3000 watt for our cabin in the woods.

I also want it to not be a loud piece of crap.

it is a suitcase style so shouldn't be that loud and being that it runs off of propane it could be hocked up to a bottle and not have to worry about bad gas every year its called an ipower generator website says it is 58 db which is quiet for that size of gen. hope that help go to princess auto and check it out they have an excellent return policy

My Honda 3000 has a remote start. But it is 15 yrs old. Bought it from Honda extreme, Edmonton south side

I think the Yamaha have 2 or 3 year warranty whereas Honda only has 1 year. That was a while ago so not sure what each offers now. Although you probably won't need warranty for either one. I have 2 Yamahas (2400 and 2000 Watt) and the 2400 must have 1000+ hours on it and never missed a beat.

I have both the Honda 3000 and the 3200. The Honda 3000 is the more powerful generator but it’s heavy and large, and the reason for purchasing the 3200 for boondock camping, it fits under my sled deck, and is noticeably louder than the 3000.
The 3200 has a app based hour meter, the 3000 has to be installed as a accs. The 3200 is FI and is a 1 strong pull start.
The 3000 can have a remote start installed but it’s expensive. I’m on my original battery on my 3000 and I bought my 3000 ten years ago and has been rock solid.

Honda has three. If it has one it was registered as commercial use

I have both the EU3000 with the electric start, Heavy and clumsy but decent unit. No wheels, back breaking to move with 1 person.
and the EU3000i Which is smaller compact unit, even quieter but has no electric start. It starts on first pull typically and has wheels, tow handle, light, easy tomove around and put in your vehicle. Gas tank is a bit smaller but I prefer this over the other one which is bulky.

I like the Champion Inverters. And the newest generation are quieter than the ones from a couple years ago.

Depends on what you need it for, Honda and Yamaha set the standard, but I only use mine a couple times a year and can't justify the cost.

I should probably state too, it will be bolted down into a shed at the cabin in the woods, hoping to fix my 2000 and continue using it for camping, and the 3000 dedicated to the cabin.

Id by the larger EU3000 then but get a used one, less risk to lose if thieves come by. If you want quiet that is. The Champion/princess auto ones are all noisy even when they say quiet. Always have someone at BVJ that shows up with one or two and we clap when they turn them off.

Honda 3000 EUi.
Because it's a Honda and they last and they are easy on fuel and they are quiet and they last forever and you can mock your friends knock off chit when it dies and sell him power when you're out camping.
I have not seen anything better than a Honda in small generators.

I just bought the Cummins/Onan 4500 inverter generator. Got it on sale at Arrkann for 25% off. It seems good, has electric and remote start. Bought it to upgrade from my Yamaha 2400. sale price was $1500.

I do not have all the batteries i need yet for proper feed back, but the test i have done on one of the batteries they are accurate to AH they claim, 3 of these batteries would produce a lot of power, if you really wanted quiet. But this may require a few more years before it is acceptable. Or if you wanted noisy a 3000 watt honda would do... well the least noisy of the bunch.

I know 2 people with the firman generator/inverters. Electric start with remote. I think 3800w surge and 3600 running. I'd have bo problem running one if I needed a generator and they go on sale at home depot and other places for $750 a lot

Add mine to the “poor review” category. Loaded with features, attractive price, good warrantee, and piss poor performance.
