you can do it with the avid drivers it will fit but there isnt much for clearance and the snow will probably have a hard time exiting which will hurt performance, and may rub if your track is too loose.
go with the 2.5" and stock drivers way cheeper and almost as good, or the 174 2.5" and avids if you want the traction and more floatation but not the cost.

I looked into this for my Apex but there is not enough clearance. The Apex comes stock with 7tooth drivers but I think the Summit comes with 8 or 9, don't they? If you dropped down to 7 tooth that might get you the clearance needed, if they are available.

The Xp do come stock with a 8 tooth 2.86 Pitch, And the 3 inch is 7 tooth 3 pitch. Once installed there is roughly 130 Thou clearence. There was one sled at the sled show done with out the extended chaincase. I am waiting to here back on the results of how it works. I feel like Oilboy said, The snow will have a Hard time exiting and slow track seed. So the 2.5 with the extra track speed should be right on Par with the 3 inch paddle. And being that close if it touches the tunnel, Something is going to break if the track starts running loose.

Keep the Info Coming guys,

Thanks

Are they done with or with out the extended chaincase though. I am hearing the 3 inch with the extended chaincase they run Great, But its $1300 for the chain case and Speciality is charging 20 Hrs to do the install. Not including Buying the 3 inch track and 7 tooth drivers.

Dropping to the 7 tooth 3" pitch drivers gains you 3/10ths of clearance (3.64" vs 3.34" driver radius). What's the stock paddle size on the rev? 2.25"? Dropping to the 7tooth and 2.5" paddle you'd more than stock clearance. Another 1/2" of paddle height would eat stock clearance....probably that .13 clearance xp mountainrider mentioned on the show sled. You could always shave the 3" paddle to what ever clearance you're happy with, might get you 2.75". It's easy to do with the right jig, I shaved a 136x2" to 1.5".

Drop and roll is cheaper than extanded chan case but just as much work, if not more.

I'm running 2.5" paddles with .25" clearance to my front cooler. Fairly common on the Apexs.

To keep you jack shaft tucked nicelly inside the front of your tunnel I think 2.5" would be the most without an extended chaincase. Just my thoughts...

why. thats a serious install. gota pay to play

Agreed. That's a full teardown on the sled and install on a new chaincase, alignment, cutting holes etc etc, and then assembled. 20 hrs seems reasonable.

I have a friend who went 174x3 with the stock chaincase it looks good,I think with the lower track speed the tight clearance may not be as much of an issue compared to 45 mph track speed. Will know more when he takes it out for testing!

Hey thanks for the reply there Tundra Twin. I was at Martin last week and seen your sled up on your sled deck, It looks very impressive, You done a great Job with it. It must be 20 inches wide. With any luck I will see you in the Mountains somewhere to see it go.

Bring on the snow.

Post up what your shop of choice will do it for, as i'm sure you must have researched it to make your comment. You will be able able to get them a bunch of business as they must be doing it much cheaper.

lol i knew this goof was going to start showing up again once the season started.

i thought you and all your wisdom LHF would know exactly how difficult and time consuming it is to do this job. its not exactly easy hacking up a 2010 machine and putting it back together properly. im sure MM would be damn near the same price.

hope to see you on the snow and hear some more bullchit stories.

Its very possible that my sled well have one installed, I will see how My Buddys sled performs with his 3 inch, If I do decide I will go with the extended chaincase for the extra clearence so that I can run the track loose and Not have to worry about it touching the tunnel. That would suck if it did and screw up a good weekend out. I am sure there will be quite a few on the Hills this year with the three Inch tracks.

Bring on the snow..

good luck seeing him on the snow, but you can look forward to more BS for sure. Its too bad that he's associating himself with MM and willing to drag down their reputation.

Its easy to smack talk all the competition from behind a computer keyboard.

Harder to post up some valid information.
