belt drive would be a lateral move not an upgrade so i don't see brp doing that to this chassis. maybe the G6.
a bump to 200hp would be cool if the e-tec can handle it.

The first thing I would do if I bought a G5 is put a belt drive on it, you need to make sure your belt tension is correct and they should never blow. Im on my third season with the belt drive in my sidewinder and the belt looks new,. I noticed a difference as soon as I installed it. Might not be as big of a weight savings on the skidoo though, Doo should probably start thinking of dropping some weight one of these days

Belt drive could be a solution to their wobbly driveshaft coupling without eating crow and going back to the old design.

With the right marketing it would be revolutionary™️

weve been through this before, the boosted sleds need load to build boost. Racing them up hardpack isnt exactly their strongsuit. Put 4 feet of snow on that hill and try again

Exactly, but Not what I noticed, the cat was on a hard pack look the line the doo had.

in terms of marketing all they have to say is "less rotational mass" and people will lose their minds and order sleds with two belt drives.
not sure how a belt drive would alleviate any wobble since the coupler is still there.

your not riding a 4 stroke yamaha nearly as hard as guys are riding these sleds in the bush. yes more HP but far less shock loading


also, the 155 Boost and the 155 Expert turbo are 6lbs apart in weight. Can always be lighter but the Polaris has been gaining weight by adding things the skidoo has had previously.

Could still be "quick change" track access while eliminating the coupler if designed right. No need to open the chain case, just remove the lower cog.

I'm still not sold on the idea, just trying to think line a corporate engineering and marketing team.

Its interesting just saw a guy blow two belts on hard landings, he only had one belt and he made the switch after losing his chain, the look on his face showed he wasn't sold on it either....

The dudes I regularly ride with all season are ALL using belt drives, SkiDoo's, Cats and Polaris, all 200++hp turbo's. Currently I know more on belt drives then chains. I was the last to be converted and now running on my second season with well over 3,000km on the belt.
Ya, one blew on a buddies Polaris once a few years ago, 20min later he was ripping again, he also had 2 seasons on the belt, driving his 210hp Poo.
You watching your self on repeat again. LOL

This was my Thought. Once he hits the throttle you can’t tell where the doo is even. Could be starting to pull on him. The other videos on their IG page is pretty set up also. The one where the sleds wheeling the whole hill is just the limiter loosened all the way. My old 600zrt 25 years ago would even wheelie with strap backed way off.
