2024 Chev/GM in box wiring for sled deck problems

I agree with CTD. I don't have any issues with the honking. The seat sensor seems to still be connected and working, if there is one.

Couldn't stand my passengers seatbelt beeping either anytime someone took it off to reach behind the seat or until the back seat people get organized. I disconnected all 5 connections. Best mod ever.

I picked up on of these last year for my 2023 Chev HD highcountry, didn’t have luck with using the box trailer lighting and ended up tiring directly into the taillights.

Picked up a 2024 HD last weekend, going to try it again. Any tips?
I’ve wired a lot of thing, these new chevs puzzle me

If the resistance works in the adapter, nothing more to do. If not, then tap into the taillight assembly. No issues for sure if you do it that way. Not sure what happens if you plug into the box and then plug a trailer into the bumper. Not sure how the truck reacts to that.....

prob could tie into the marker lights in rear flares
the tails have the strobe style like the cougars and newer mustangs
haven't had to help on a '24 yet

Chev's don't have the marker lights on the fenders. No issues tying into the taillights regardless if they are the strobe style.

Why not use the plutco lightbar wire harness. It’s worked flawlessly for my deck fir the last 3 years.

Chev's don't have the marker lights on the fenders. No issues tying into the taillights regardless if they are the strobe style.
Man! Having no luck, have power and ground but lights won’t turn on!
Any help.. tying in to the light purple wire seams to the running lights. Have power to my junction box only way I can get light to go on it if I use my test light to my ground in my junction box… gotta be a ground issue

I know this is a Chevy thread but thought I would share my findings on a 22 F350. It detects a trailer and then faults the signal lights since it is only using the running lights for of the 4 pin for the deck (Mammoth in this case). I did some head scratching, read this thread and lots of other forums. Thought maybe the ECM needs to see the current on both the positive running lights and back to the negative pin. I just used a pigtail and put a male round for power and a eyelet connector to the bolt holding the trailer plug in the box for a chassis ground and it works. It doesn't detect that it's a trailer and the signal lights don't fast blink. And since it's using trailer plug the deck lights come on with the vehicle lights.

I don't think that would work on the new GM, for sure not on my 2024. As soon as the trailering module/computer see's any type of a load it try's to be smart & helpful by checking all lights including turn signal's to make sure they are there & working. The reason I had to go to the marker lights on the wheel well mouldings, separate relay/fuse & cct.

It's the same way in the Ford. I tried with just a little 2 cell led marker light I had in the shop. If you use running light power and ground to the trailer plug the ECM instantly detects a trailer. But if you ground it direct to chassis it does not. My thoughts is the ECM is watching both the positives and ground coming back. So if you use an alternative grounding location it can't read voltage and current so it does not know there is a draw on the running lights pin.

OK, I follow now. You are stating the ground in that trailer plug is isolated from the chassis. Grounding the deck lights to the chassis rather than the trailer......very simple......nice bit of Sherlock Holmes!

I don't know exactly how they are doing it. But my assumption on the Ford at least is that it is measuring across both the supply and ground. If you use a different ground it must not be able to detect current. Easy enough to try on the Chevy too. I was going to tie into tail light marker light but my trucks is all one assembly with a single plug. I believe the blind spot sensor is in the too so I didn't want to go messing around in the factory harness and then have an issue there.

I just set my deck on last week, I have plug & play connectors set up for the marker lights. The connector is right close to the box mounted trailer plug. This weekend when I'm swapping the winters on I will quickly test your Ford trick & see if it works on the 2024 HD. What if my GMC run's like a Ford after that :)

I tested the Ford mod today, ran the deck light positive to the box mounted 4 pin flat. Separate ground down to the metal on the hitch. When I started the truck it got all pissy about the trailer brake & signal lights. Sad, as it could have been simple solution.

A side note & a surprise my TPMS has an auto learn feature, single rear wheel trucks only. I only drove a few minutes & the sensors reported correct location & pressure.

I was surprised to find about the auto learn TPMS feature too, I also found out the truck with honk at you and trigger the signal light on the side it has the low tire on.

Still hate the steering colum in these trucks though.
