So what’s the deal with Yamaha selling a Sidewinder mtx in Europe? Is the terrain more open? Why would they offer it there and not here? It’s not like the production of the sled costs more money to build...it’s essential the same as the rest only longer and narrower. Just curious.

But holly heII are they pricey, around $28,000 CDN with the exchange rate.

I would assume economics plays a big part. Wonder what the unit sales need to be to have them as a option. Yeah 20g is getting to much to justify now 28 ...craziness.

I do not know if this is the case anymore. But you could get an MTX only as a pre order that you would get for next riding season. Dealers could not get any otherwise.
Yamaha has done this on a number of their high priced low demand motorcycles and it has worked well for them.
These units are generally hand put together in Japan because of the limited numbers. In 2018 i purchased a 2019 SuperTenere from them and that was the case, waited for it.
Maybe contact your dealer and find out if there is a program for it.
Glad i still have mine.

Wonder how the mountain max is doing for their sales? What’s the next move ? Electric more tech in the 4stroke?

All I know is they need a new chassis, the thing is 10 years old and needs refinements, not that the mountain max isn't great but if I were in the market for a 2 stroke it would be tough to go blue right now. I sure hope they do something with another 4 stroke mountain sled but I am in the minority on that one lol. Everyone has got to have lightweight who cares about huge hp and reliability right?! Probably wont see another thumper in the mountain segment unfortunately but got to think this year has to be a big move for them

Not sure why everyone picks on the 10 year old chassis. It has a completely new skid, old chassis sure but lots of refinements and it works great. Turbo's aside, the latest and greatest from doo doesn't outperform. So either it is an awesome chassis or doo can't build one that beats a 10 year old chassis?

I think the chassis works fine compared to the others. Yeah it’s probably due for a change but constant change come at a price. Sleds at $20,000k are not going to attract new people. I feel they need to slow down on the constant changes as that costs money and get sled prices to a reasonable level.
Really a guy should enjoy the experience and not that you need the latest and greatest.

The viper I bought last year has 8400kms on it. Still works well.

I’d like to see Yamaha separate from cat and build there own, their fit and finish is so much better, all the things I have changed or dislike on my sidewinder are from arctic cat, the sleds work sure but it’s crazy that we are still using mountain addiction gas cans etc… they gotta step it up or fold, big couple years ahead of them I’d guess. I bleed blue and I wouldn’t buy one right now.
