Did your jacket have day glow and checkers on it??

Sadly, I had a one time one year membership for Cat's pride way way back in the day. Probably still have the hat and jacket somewhere. It also came with the 2001 model promo video on VHS lol.

The western cat dealers must be pretty bummed out with this year's offerings after Polaris' and Doo's unveilings.

How could you not? The answer seems obvious to me: It's the single most complicated and capital intensive development a sled OEM can deploy in the history of snowmobiles. For a company scared of investing in R&D and product improvement, the obvious move is to forego the factory turbo. The customers can always just buy the $5k aftermarket turbo.

I get what you’re saying but how can they expect to be competitive in the mountain market when not offering the same class of power options than other manufacturers? Haters will say they don’t want to be competitive but the loyalist in me is hoping they’re just refining it to make it reliable enough for production.......here’s hoping anyways. If no turbo then address an issue like snow ingestion cause like it was said elsewhere that has been a problem for 10yrs.

Do you guys remember a few years back when GM made the claim that their trucks didn't need to to play the horsepower game or boast huge towing numbers like Ford or Ram because their customers were really didn't need to tow that much. Well they are right there in the rat race today.

Hopefully Cat wakes up and realizes that when your competition starts swinging boost around, you either follow suit or you slowly bleed off market share.

Ya might need to school me. Doo's 850 is from 2017 and it was designed for boost in mind? Cat's is from 2018 and it wasn't designed for boost in mind? Not saying either way, but how exactly would you know this?

i dont know anything about that Cat engine. All i know is that the Skidoo 850 and supposedly the Polaris 850 were designed for boost in mind. Boost injectors, fully electronic controlled exhaust valves, Larger cranks and bearings, Larger bore and stroke. The list goes on but i dont see any of that on the Cat 800. Not saying it wouldn't work but it would need refinements.

I can't believe the new CEO had the balls to stand on the stage and say they have a 5 year plan.

Comical, I'm pretty sure they have been saying that for the last 5 years. At least it looks like they have dropped the price of the high end Alpha compared to last year.

Doo came out with a turbo 2 stroke and the crowd went...ooooh, aaaah. Poo came came out with turbo 2 stroke and the crowd went...ooooh, aaaah, ohhhh. Cat came out with BNG and the crowd went.......chirp, chirp, chirp....yup, the sound of the crickets could be heard everywhere. I've ridden numerous brands in my lifetime sledding. Went to Cat at one point for A-arms and fuel injection. Been on Cat since. I love my turbo 4 stroke...just sooo much fun. I've been loyal, not cultish loyal like some of the crowd is for some brands here, but I have been Cat loyal. As of today...well...that turbo Poo looks interesting.

Can I fit the Cat mono beam onto a Poo chassis?

Anyone know Cat's 2023 release date? Lol

No dealers anymore. Can't get parts and prices are up. Textron says they have a 5 year plan. Not sure the market can wait 5 years. Guess their only hope is that sometimes you need hit bottom before moving to the top. If Textron is reading any of the internet chatter from the Cat loyal sites, I suspect they may need to rethink who is running certain parts of the snowmobile division.

Can't believe I'm Cat bashing...lol

The guy that running it admits he just rode a snowmobile for the first time. This should be good.

Something to consider is pricing etc. Some folks seem to be stuck on this turbo bandwagon but there are enough aftermarket junk out there for the Cats that I would be more interested in buying an Alpha for a decent price and putting a pipe etc on it and still being able to ride it. 95% of the people out there cannot ride a stocker to its full ability. If they can afford it great, but the mass market is to whom you sell sleds, not the niche markets. Maybe Cat is hoping that Doo and Poo are pricing themselves out of the mountain market?

I looked at the Polaris pricing and to be honest, (I nearly choked on $21K for the Doo when I saw that), $26K is insane for a piece of hardware for 6 months of the year. When it breaks a simple part that's on backorder, I foresee guys being PISSED when the dealer tells them to come back in a month and pick up their sled.

A stock turbo sled north of $25,000 better have a fleshlight installed on the bars and be able to suck more than just air if I'm riding it.
