I look at it like this Yamaha helped develope the ctec Cat uses it to test on the public
2018s are seeing few failures 2019s not so much
yamaha could launch now that they have the bugs worked out of it
heres to dreaming

I'm not so sure about that. Yamaha hasn't done any development on their dirtbike 2strokes for like 10 years. We are talking like 2003 era 2stroke technology. A lot has changed, like fuel injection, electronic power valves, counterbalances...
Really!! Do you honestly think yamaha would come to the table with another lemon like the 1981 SRX. I think they would do their homework. But would they come with a chassis that doesn't cripple the engine. Lighten it to the point of the others no one care if the chassis explodes when it hits a rut in the trail as long as it is light!!!

Well if you would look at how many people like what i said vs. what you said, i think you would see that there is a trend of people the tend to think the same thing. That being said it is the same chassis since 2012 with the exceptions of some band aids, some narrow side panels, and a new skid. so yea... i thinks its time for a face lift, it took 7 years to get that chassis to perform how it does now.. That must be the funny part i was missing? :hunter2: Shots fired!

Alpha is sick tho, no denying that

It would be the equivalent of saying the xp and the g4 are the same sled because they both have torsion spring rear skids....
The only people that think the sleds haven't changed are the guys who don't ride them or rode a 2012 and said this sled sucks and never rode one again.
From 2012 till now they have changed basically everything except the bulkhead and maybe the seat ( which they could upgrade anytime... Like who needs a couch mounted to a mountain sled lol) has it been a drastic M series to proclimb change ? No... But the early proclimb and the acsender are not the same sled...

We’ve had every year of the proclimb except a 2019 and rode them all lots and there is no comparison from 2012 to 2018 chassis, completely different feel and handling characteristics even from 2016-2018 is a major difference. As said the bulkhead is the only thing that’s the same, but why fix what doesn’t break. You won’t be happy until they completely re design it to be like a doo or something so it breaks like paper mache

Isnt the alpha the one breaking rails and kinking tunnels? not gonna lie theirs a 100% chance of one being in my fleet, just saying it could use some cosmetic surgery park a 12 beside a 19 and someone who doesnt know what they are looking at will call it the same.

The mono rail was bound to have some issues first year and oh well a rear section of a tunnel kinks, $200 later and you have a new piece. It’s the exact same rear tunnel section as my 18 and I’m having no issues other than self inflicted damage lol.I’d rather that kink than to have a big solid one piece tunnel and have it transfer impact to something that writes the sled off. Buddy wheelies his doo over backwards a couple years ago and wrote the damn thing off, destroyed the tunnel. I was more so referring to the bulkhead being the only thing that really hasn’t changed but why change what is strong and works, just my opinion. As for not being able to tell the difference between old proclimbs and new..... even my wife pointed out all the differences last year when I had my 14 and 18 sitting side by side and she knows FA about sleds

For all manufacturers in 2020 I wish there would be 100% reliability like the 16 800 Doo etec chassis and engine. No excuses, no % of breakdowns bs, no nothing, just a good working sled. One can only dream I guess.

Why is this conversation about a nearly 40 year old snowmobile and a 16 year old dirt bike happening? Or have to do with 2020 model sleds predictions.
Please get with the program, i'm sure no one here is interested in 40 year old sleds and 16 year old dirt bike being used as models for the year 2020.

As for a true blooded 2 stroke Yamaha, it won't happen. It is not in their interest or conforms to Yamaha's ideology.

Here's to hoping Yamaha is getting back in the 2s game. The definetly had a hand in both the 600 and 800 c-tech motors (they look like yamaha motors to me) While a person is dreaming, might just throw this out there. Yamaha does not like big bore two strokes, they like small pistons and short strokes so take the 600, glue on a third cylinder for a 900 with 170+ Hp with a VERY small pentally in weight as the 600 is 9Lbs less then the 800.
Bring back the TRIPPLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELL NO, i loved the Yamaha triple, i had a MM700 it was solid, reliable and powerful but would not want another one. That additional cylinder makes a sled that much harder manipulate. Just as well stay with the 4 stroke.

I would love to see Yamaha improve their tech in the 4 stroke over anything else. I would like to see them completely removing the cam, timing chain and all the gears related to the valve train and going strictly to an electronic valve system activated by solenoids.
This would make the engine much more compact and atleast 30-40% lighter. Plus it would maintain reliability.

I CAN imagine a 200+hp 4 stroke within 50lbs of a 2 stroke with 10x the reliability.

man did those things chew! buddy had a triple piped mach in high school. BRAAAAP

I agree!! I remember one new mach z that ran so well that BRP actually wanted that particular engine back, I’m not sure what was different about it but they threatened to void the warranty on his engine. He caved and the new engine was no where near as strong.

Id love to see a etec triple!

I have a 99 mach z lt. 136 1.5 In great shape. Used it as my asphalt sled for a couple of years. 2500usd and its all yours!
