Yes the 2020 has Updated semi-direct injection, new cylinder with repositioned fuel injector, new combustion chamber, new piston, new higher resolution flywheel with 1 piece construction, new fuel rail w/dual dampers, new fuel calibration, improved valve servo actuation for faster response, more torque and cleaner calibration, reduced emissions, oil delivery through the case with high velocity, sprays directly at the main bearings, eliminate oil spitback through the intake, one piece flywheel quicker reving/reduced harmonics, more teeth provides improved data rate, faster response for map, improved run quality!

Mmm 19 s must have problems? So no more slot in the piston. So is it direct injection now? Sounds like a big change. I rode a 19 and liked it so much power just wondering what why so.much change . Dont buy a 19 ? Or they still ok ? Must say really liked the 19
The 18’s and 19’s were great sleds, as years go by engines get upgrades and improvements. Look at when Cat upgraded the Suzuki motor from the 800 to the 800HO, nothing was wrong with the original 800 they just found a better way to make power. Yes big changes for 2020 that was for the most part kept pretty quiet. No it wasn’t because the 19’s had issues. More of a lack of marketing on Cats part. I’m sure some of the changes will reflect the flame issues the trail guys out east were complaining about but most of the changes are for durability, and increased power, and of course yes emissions. I will have a 2020 on a dyno here right away and we will get to see first hand how much of a change they implemented. I know for myself when I first heard about the changes in the engine it was enough for me to pull the trigger on a 2020, this engine will make 170+HP with just a few small changes for under $500, and even more if you really want to get into it. Stock they already perform really well but there is a lot left on the table for us guys that want to play with them. No turbo for me this year, going N/A as this engine makes big power and the reliability is tough to beat.

Cool cant wait to try a 2020 . The 19 pulled so good it was crazy . I said i would never go back to the cat but maybe ? Just thinking that is giving me flashbacks of broken cranks clutch belts mags and the chopper rides out still gives me shivers . If i showed up on a cat and needed a tow my friends would just leave me there after all the break downs i had in past. Lol o well it would be like marrying a ex wife just don't know about that. Haha life is ****ed up tho

I have heard that the 2020's are already on the dyno's in the States and they are a whopping 1.5 hp more! I like the improvements though, should be a much better overall engine, I would rather have a 2020 but time will tell I guess, I will probably be on my 3rd or 4th oil change on the winder by then ha ha.
My 2019 High Country locked up at 370 miles. It was a flame thrower too. Cat put a new motor in, new motor seemed to run a lot smoother from the get go. Fun sled though.
Sounds like an operator error to me, your story has cold seizure written all over it! I would love to see the pictures of the cylinders and pistons. Your lucky cat stood up to the plate. Also the flame issue wouldn’t be an issue if guys would let there sled run for a bit before shutting it off when it’s hot, never understood why guys will run a sled at full pin for 15 mins straight then just shut it off lmao
That's when it would throw flames when you came to a idle, always let it warm up (a lot) before riding it too. Not gonna say I didn't run it hard though.

I never got that either, I let mine idle down for at least 20 seconds after some long hard tree lines or deep snow WOT riding
Never get what? You guys just assume because I have 2 post I'm a kid beating the crap out of my stuff, I mostly ride off trail. LMAO I'm 48 years old too by the way.
Always warm up and let it idle down. Although it was hard to do when flames were coming out, the plastics can't handle it.

You get fire from the exhaust while idling? I often get a fireball but only after hitting the kill switch. Something in the muffler must be glowing hot for a bit and ignites the unburned air/fuel mix that comes along once the ignition stops.
