Thank you Barry, Rod, Curtis and the others at SAR for there efforts, good everyone is out safely.

Barry said the snow was very deep at least 3' of new snow at Renshaw, they were basically out of fuel by the time they got back to there trucks.

So the snow in McBride is heavy already roughly 3' of fresh in the alpine, and its still puking. Barry said they were all out of fuel in 4 hours. Looks like there is some serious snow there. Going to have to hit it, could be some good turbo days. Will need extra fuel for sure.

Great to hear everyone is A-OK from this situation!

On a side note: is McBride truly booked up this weekend? Been phoning around since Sunday evening for accomodations for Friday/Saturday night for 3 fellas with no luck.... I haven't stayed in Valemount in 5+ years and plan on keeping that streak alive... Lol but at the same time it's good to hear McBride is busy busy! TIA!

Barry, would you be able to put a little synopsis on here as to what happened in this incident? Like where is Drop of Doom (Weinberger???), too much snow to get out, snow cave, things they wished they would have had (spot, candles...)? Always curious about these situations and what we should be packing.

Should almost have a thread on here for sharing stories and learnings about that stuff.
Goliath did a fine job telling about his experience and what he plans on doing different.
Sharing that stuff could really help others out should they ever find themselves in a similar situation.

The drop of doom is another way to drop down the back side of renshaw from the cabin. You turn to you left when heading to wolverine bowl. Weinburgers bowl is past the blackwater area.
If your familar where the ladder or the steps, are or how to get there when getting to the backside of Renshaw. When you get to the bottom of the steps. The drop of doom is the long pull out that on your right.

IMO anyone who rides Renshaw should get to know how to get in and out without heading back to the cabin, through the blackwater and back on the trail at 27. I have been back there when the weather picks up, not being able to see is not a nice feeling even when you know the terrain.

Im really glad this situation had a good outcome.
