July 16,2019 effective date for mercury’s sport jet to be no longer made. Seems like the way of the two stroke keeps taking hits.

I know BRP saw a market for a package jet powerplant. never seen one in operation yet but tons of minis and small boats running the 255 successfully. not sure how they compare in size/weight to the SJ.

We did something similar a few years back. We stayed at campers haven campground at Donald. We hauled the boats up to Kinbasket and launched. Drove them back to the Donald bridge and anchored them. Ran up and down the river for three days. Going towards Golden can be fairly interesting in larger boats depending on the water level. Sand bars just under the surface. We just went just north of the campground to load, there are some spots a person can, again depending on water levels. Also they used to let you ride your atv's right from the campground back up into the back country. If it is the same owners still operate it they are great people and very accommodating.

So I have 2 of these 18’ Catalina’s.Last year I built this small block for one of them, first and last time in the water it did 51 mph.
This engine is now for sale.
The new small block for this is built now it’s a matter of paying it off,it will be a sleeper engine.
Exact bore and stroke as the LS6.
It’s a small block 454 ci.

cool old tub, what's the MPH like? small block vs big block

Well the small block did 51mph,the last big block did 83mph.
Goal is 100 mph.
I wanna go race them but nice BC government shut us down after 1st race this season.
Fraser Valley Race Boat Association is the club I belong too.
There is a race in July at Sproat Lake Regatta but don’t think it will be ready by then.
Both boats are in for new interiors on August 8th.
