Anyone else see or hear about this??

Warranty Bulletin 2018-4
November 3, 2017
850 E-Tec - Driven pulley bearing support bolts out of specification

Testing involves checking torque specs (24 lb/ft) on the two bolts. Seems BRP is out in front of the problem and has remedies in place to replace broke/stripped bolts.

Where did you find this? and which bolts are we talking primary?

The Driven pulley is the secondary. By the description I would guess the the Nylock nuts that hold the secondary clutch tower were over torqued and potentially stripped. Hopefully the studs are fine.

A quick google search found this....

It's a bulletin that was just released, just got off the phone with the dealer. I have the bring the sled back to check it, you'd think they would be calling guys to bring them back?

is this something that could leave you stranded?

Well it's just torquing to 24 ft lbs. if it breaks the threads, new bolt... will the dealer whine if I do this myself to save a trip there??

I have what appears to be a 2x grade 8? (Gold) hex bolts both with paint mark to suggest they were torque checked. Are the ones breaking, silver and not grade 8 I wonder?

The bullet doesn't make sense. It talks about a bolt and nut, I only have a bolt going into the support bracket. The bracket is threaded. I don't see how you'd reach a nut to the bottom bolt, access is tight and limited on the back side.

Edited, on second read, I see they remove the clutches to gain access. Not sure why they want a nut on it now, unless it's the bracket threads that are ripping off or worried they are weakened after the bolt threads break?

Edit2: Hit mine with 24ft lbs, got about an 1/8th turn before the click, seems secure.

If you have a grade 8 bolt you are good.

I removed two none graded bolts from my sled and replaced them with grade 8 bolts supplied by my dealer and torqued them.

Some sleds got inferior hardware. That’s it.

Don’t try to tighten them if your bolts are not grade 8

This has nothing to do with the color of bolts, or the grade, infact as some of you know using to hard of a bolt makes it brittle. To check these two bolts make sure they are torque to spec, if they are to torque they are fine, if one is broken already or they break when torqued, the replacement bolt is longer goes through to the end and has a nut. Your dealer has this bulletin and will check it for you. Don't worry about the grade of bolt

Just seen on FB group, BRP released a new bulletin for these bolts to be all replaced on the 2018s, no more torque and test.

Dave, why the nut? From what Ive seen it said use a nut if the bolt breaks. If they don't break, replace with the proper bolt. There is threads in the support bracket that the bolt torques to, what difference does using a nut on top of that make? Just thinking out loud, thanks
