It's not really banned...but you need a licence and a roll bar for 9.99 and faster...Dodge should have put a bar in it knowing it was going to be this fast. Can you imagine the speeds the aftermarket guys are going to get out of this thing? Different rear gears, wrinklewalls, open exhaust, different tune....be knocking on low 9's
The letter from NHRA says its banned because their rules state that OEM cars 2008 or newer must have a max speed of 135 mph and a min time of 9.99....this car did 140 mph and 9.65 so the NHRA says they are welcomed back when this car is brought into compliance of the rules and regulations of section 4 of the NHRA rulebook.
