I know there has been a lot of Sidewinder clutching talk on this thread i have either missed it or it has not been discussed yet for my application,i have a 2018 MtX 162 and all i have done is installed a CR resonator can, i am trying to clutch it to stay off the rev limiter when doing some local riding 2500 - 3500 ft ,i have loaded the stock fly weight as much as i can 17.2 steel in all three holes which is 59 grams each and still hit the rev limiter i do plan on doing some mountain riding maybe up to 8000ft, i have some friends who use the Daltons on their 2 strokes and like them for ease of adjustment i know there has been some talk about the Yamaha 8LR weights ,this is my first involvement trying to tune a boosted 4 stroke my question is am going to be able to get a Dalton base weight that i can just add or remove the set screws as needed to ride at my local elevation and then go to higher elevation ,if possible i would like to just tune one set of fly weights and not have to do two sets of fly weights one for local riding and another for mountain riding THANKS for any info

I changed out to the 8LR00 weights and loaded them up to 73g I believe! I also just have a CR straight pipe no tune. Changed secondary spring setting to 3-3 60!degrees

Sled hauls ass I get 60+mph track speeds while climbing . No complaints here and rpm dam near perfect 8750 almost all the time

Im in the same boat. I haven't had a lot of luck finding much info ether, but iv basically got the same set up. cr intake/exhaust. would like to keep it off the limiter a little better for the odd time I actually hold it wide open. I ride a bit higher tho in the 5-7k range mostly. doesn't seem to be a lot of info on sleds without a tune or its flat lander stuff.

Try my set up , get the 8LR00 weights! Fully loaded up to 73 grams

Then set secondary spring at 3-3 60 degrees
This setup was recommended to me by LUND
He is a Clutching guru and it flat out works . Also lowers clutch engagement to 3100 from factory 4100

any chance you have a link? or are those a oem Yamaha weight I can get from the dealer? I was looking at the different holes on the secondary the other day but really wasn't sure what the deal was.

Yes they are a Yamaha part. They are actually the weights from the BTX sidewinder I believe. I’ll get you the exact part numbers tonight. And yes as for secondary I think 3-1 is stock setting switch that to 3-3 the twist 60 degrees into pace to bolt back up.

Yes they are yamaha OEM weights... need the steel (4.5g) rivets to go with the 8LR weights as welll.

8LR-17605-00-00 for the ramp/weight
90261-06033-00 for the rivets.

I've got the parts sitting at home waiting to be installed, I cannot comment on how the low elevation riding is with this setup yet..

With the stock 2017 clutching and the CR resonator and the little bit of miles of put around home (1000'-1500') it will hit the rev limiter using half throttle in most conditions.

This is the Yamaha part number for the weights
They come without rivets
You’ll need 3 weights obviously

#8LR-17605-00-00

Here is the part number for the rivets which you will need 9 of

#90261-06033 they are steel 4.5g

Haha I was conveniently doing nothing at the time... are you still running the Stock MTX gearing?

Yes I am running stock gearing!!

Only been out twice with those weights. And both times was hard to keep watching gauges cause the snow was so deep!

But I’m chappel creek I’m valemount on the hill off the main lake . I was pulling 60-63 mph on a fresh line. And 8600-8750 rpm never went over from what I saw .

If anything maybe a little lower tip weight then the 4.5 could make it scream perfectly at 8750 but for the most part I was there I believe! The sled pulled hard

Anyone looking to do some gearing changes this might help you make some decisions on what route to go that is cost effective....

The chain lengths are for the chaincases WITHOUT drop and roll.
