Holly heck winter is smashing the valley. If we could see, I bet the alpine riding would be awesome, but in this weather its tree time!
It snowed 15cms in the valley bottom while we were up the mtn for 6hrs today.
Chappell and Allan freshened up tonight and all lots are being plowed as we speak. We are trying to get Clemina groomed for Saturday morning.
Enjoy the snow and be safe.

Pin it n wiggle.......??? No bud......roll it n head back down..... :)

Amazing riding conditions out there right now with upwards of 50cms of storm snow. The winds have moved it around the alpine, so while the general riding is great, there are some amazing handlebar deep stashes out there awaiting those who are willing to go looking.

NOTE – we have moved the Chappell groomer to Clemina to help get that machine off the hill and so we are able to groom Clemina for the weekend. There were 70 riders up there today and unfortunately Chappell creek will NOT BE GROOMED THIS WEEKEND due to the broken groomer.

At the time of writing this the plan is have Clemina GROOMED for Saturday, January 05 and throughout the weekend.

Sorry for the inconvenience.... :(

Respect the HIGH avalanche hazard and ride safe.

We rode Clemina today, trail was rough in areas going up and quite rough coming down. Up top morning glory was awesome with 1-2’ fresh, then headed close to cabin. There was only about 6-8” of new snow in that area. Then we headed to lakeview the snow in there was between 1 1/2’ to 3’ new snow. In the lower tree areas it was epic. Lots of snow left to hit.
Had some bad luck with my sled today the sensor came out of my exhaust pipe and burnt a hole through my air box and hood, and the fuel rail came apart on the engine and caused a bunch of damage, managed to make it back to truck with sled. Guess it’s going in for some warranty work on Monday. All in all it is was a good day. Taking a rental in there again tomorrow. I’ll post some deep pics shortly

We rode Clemina today. The trail up was great, about 1’ fresh at the cabin, went up to go into lakeview was snowing hard, big flakes, and so socked in you count see much at all. Then tried to drop into goat, no go either, visibility was zero. Headed into Bauer’s, to the south it was decent about 12” - 20” of snow. Very low visibility, then into morning glory, was good and coming down hard from the sky’s. 1-2’ of snow and many areas getting blowing snow with the new stuff.

Valemount is getting the snow, many of the hazards and holes are now filled in. Many of the small trees are covered. Creeks are filled in. The roof of the Clemina cabin is ready for a big roofalanche.
Avalanche Conditions will be high with all this loading of new snow and wind deposited snow. Be careful out there

Get your mountain mania tickets now, the event is coming on the 19th in Valemount. Tickets look to be selling real good, see you there, support VARDA

There have been some amazing riding conditions out there with upwards of 50-70cms of storm snow falling over the last week and this weeks forecast looks promising for a continual reload.

We are still down a groomer but are trying all we can to get things rolling. Only Clemina and Allan Creek are being groomed at the moment. Plan is to move the groomer tomorrow to have the Chappell trail groomed for Wednesday the 9th. With these mountain roads and large machines, move equipment is not an easy undertaking but we are trying to get the trails up and ready for you all as fast as possible.

There is a decent base with this snow on top so your not sinking down 10’ into the abyss.

The snow keeps on coming down with decent temperatures as well. This will make for some real decent riding over the next few weeks. We need to keep in mind of the local avalanche conditions daily and respect these.

Grooming Update

We have moved the groomer over to get Chappell done this evening. Hopes are that our full fleet will be repaired and operational by the weekend.

2 of us just rolled into town today and have never ridden here before. We're on good equipment, have the gear and avalanche training.

What area should we be looking to ride tomorrow? Thanks in advance!

Good place to go is Clemina Creek, nice trail, at km 14 is morning glory, this is a nice area to start the day. I would stay off the steeper slopes.
Then make your way back to the trail and hit Bauer’s, on your right about 3 km down the trail then the cabin is another 2 k on your left. After that head to the alpine, you can play in goat ridge east. And to the right (south) you will drop down a big hill and go up into laveview plateau.

There was only 6 of us up in Chapel today. Lots of fresh snow all over still, didn't look like anyone has ventured past lower tiffany lake since the last dump of snow. We didn't need to leave the area around the lake for fresh tracks all day.

Rode Allan yesterday, Clemina today. Trails in all in great shape. Snow and visibility were better at Allan though.

Spent most of our day at Allan in the burn, probed about 145-170 cm in the 2nd open meadow past the cabin. Trees have alot more. There was about 4" of new snow on top of alot of tracks in the meadows. We played in the trees and found fresh snow all afternoon. Was getting really windy around 430. Lots of stucks.

Today at Clemina went to the cabin and up to Goat ridge, but came back down after a quick tour from the flat light. Played in the cut blocks all day. Very gusty NW winds at the cabin for most of the afternoon.
