well, on the Cat side....the yammy triple is 10lbs lighter than the 1100 so that's a win
Zen, you are correct. Too bad Cat doesn't offer it in a mountain sled. Only in the XF High Country with a 1.75"track.
There wasn't a huge following for the boosted M1100 / M9000, but there was a following. Now we're left with a hole in the line up...

2017 Yamaha Sidewinder

Snowshoot is going on now in West Yellowstone. All mfg's, all media, all models. Some of the good and bad is starting to surface. One media says they felt like one of the new motors, may not be as fast as its predecessor. :p
I do think every mfg has something to offer in 2017. They all did a great job with their launches. There is something for everyone......so just ride what you pride.
Cheers

I checked with Kelowna Yamaha today and they won't have a 2017 model till end of March.
I will check this sled out so to answer a few of my own question's, if this sled comes with a tunnel heat exchanger cooling system over a radiator, there is a high chance i will be building a new mountain sled to replace my 6 year old trouble free modified Nytro.

I was hoping Cat was coming out with something but they didn't.

I'd love to see what running weight is on this sled. I don't expect it to be 2 stroke light, but if it is remotely close to my current 4S, I could see me owning one soon. PM me if you like.

Engine looks awesome hopefully it can take more boost without doing internals as 180-190 hp isnt much with all that weight..Same chassis different plastic and Id bet its close to the weight of my turbo viper within a couple pounds. At a 20 grand price tag I'll be keeping my 15

2:53-3:07. I don't care what make or model of sled it is, that guy can ride. Never owned a 4 stroke and only rode one in my life.
I would like to spend a weekend or two on that sidewinder after watching this.
If you give it a chance, you may be pleasantly surprised. They have to be ridden a bit differently then a 2S, but the torque is very forgiving. On my modded M1100T I get stuck a lot less then on my 925 Proclimb. Once you've figured the throttle control out it's amazing where a boosted 4S will take you. One of my riding buddies who rides a 14 Proclimb 800 and a Linderman built M1000 is buying an M9000 because I gave him a full day to play on my M1100T.

Its nice to see someone that is open minded, the fact is most guys out there dismiss the 4 stroke without even giving it a solid go around. All they see is weight and nothing else. Even when a 4 stroke might show them up they refuse to see it, weird or what.
Like already mentioned, you don't ride them the same as a 2 stroke, its a different animal but once you learn it, its very hard to go back. Many dudes in the past owned a 4 stroke but never could tune into them, so gave up and went back. They are not for every one.....thank god....imo

smooth throttle operation is key and its pretty crazy what a person can do at half throttle

Yamaha needs to offer some demos on these sleds to give people a honest chance to try em. I have a new viper with the alpine turbo and 36'' front end and I think it's amazing. Just needed some seat time.
