Good info, but let's face it. The fiats will still get 50+ mpg empty and 39+ mpg towing 27 tons up the Rogers pass at 150km/hr without downshifting. Always have, always will.

Got to race the 17 Ford with three sleds in the trailer against the 17 duramax with three in the trailer up a few passes when we went to Wyoming.. New duramax was the winner every time up hill and down hill breaking.. I really wonder if the older duramax would also have the edge as well over the Ford..

but am schocked how well the new dodge is, something to respect up the hill

I thought the 17 duramax had more torque than that?

Telling a guy how efficient the Allison is in the duramax, with less Tq it still apply it better to the ground than the others.. Take a watch of them doing the towing video

amazing that all three truck on the Ike gauntlet test were with in 15 seconds of each other on a 10 minute pull, they are all within 1.5% of each other. My take away don't buy any of these trucks based on hp and tq ratings its effectively a push, buy them on other attributes.

Well said, I think all three are great trucks. My brother just git a 16 untimate GFX duramax, nice ride.

I can say this had a 07 classic with the efi tune set at 2, 40hp gain will outperform our new 16 dmax stock with my skidsteer on, quite dissapointed in the truck after riding in a 17 Ford.

One thing i notice in my 17 ford is the throttle response is amazing. Push the pedal and no hesitation, the power is there right now.

They advertise:

Peak Horsepower:
445 hp @ 2,800 rpm
Peak Torque:

910 lb-ft @ 1,600 rpm

but I guess that would be at the crank, not the rear wheels. Still, I woulda thought the rear wheel numbers would be higher.

Generally lose 15-20% through the drivetrain. So those numbers are bang on really.

That would be nice my 16 Ram you need to plan in advance when you push the pedal down.

Same here on my 15 dually and 13! I damn near get rear ended when pulling out onto some roads! Throttle response is terrible !

Chev did really well considering the smaller gear ratio.

I have a 2017 F350 and I can say the throttle response is unbelievable along with the power. My first diesel that I have owned. Good ride and very comfortable truck to ride in.

The allison in the LML and I'm sure the L5P also pull tons of fuel from the tuning if it sees anything it doesn't like. The cheapest and easiest mod to get the most out of them is to put a dummy solenoid in for the line pressure in the trans. Basically leave the stock solenoid in place and unplug it, buy a second solenoid, plug it into the harness and just zip tie it up. The tcm doesn't know the difference and the line pressure stays up all the time. Makes the truck way more responsive and hold more power with less defueling.
