Re: 2017 New Summit

They have brought a lot of changes to the summit for this year. And a lot of the new changes while good, are still unproven. Might want to wait till there is a few out in the wild and it has a season under its belt before proclaiming its "king of the hill".
MAXWELL and Norona both said they are the best. Nuff said...

Re: OK.. Fresh thoughts, new machine the new summit..

Isn't the hard to pull over the bigger magnetos required for fuel injection?
Ptec ? easy and etec is a pull when cold in comparison.
Both same compression .

Correct. The magnets in the etec are very large. The Polaris runs LED lights all around and does not require so much power.

why 3.5" pitch track... Really. No one can do a easy swap to the 3.2" paddle track now. And dare do I say it looks very similar to the great working challenger lite track
6 tooth drivers, well that's not alot of contact. Make sure your track tension is proper
beveled tunnel and inset paddles... Yup snow will build on the sides vs the top.
Motor looks to built like a brick **** house with forged crank and two piece rods. But anyone that has played with split caged needle bearing knows this can be trouble if the tolerance is off
440lbs... Seriously, your competitor is 429lbs and 413lbs for smaller paddle version

50/50 side to side is great, till you install your lightweight can
clutch is a good improvement

i think I will be keeping my doo and from there moving to a poo when it comes time.

Something I am not sold on is the moving of the motor further back, creating the balance point more central.

The XP/XM chassis sometimes requires a very rider forward position. The post was moved further once again, the foot wells have more room to get further forward.

Now how does moving the bulk of the weight reward affect rider position? Going to have to stand on the front bumper soon.

Yes it's a different sled, different chassis and only riding it will tell the truth but it still makes me wonder

There is only a handful of guys that even rode the Ptec to it's potential. The group that got the most out of the T3 was even smaller. The 2017 will be better (new models usually are) but I bet most of us won't get any more out of this sled than we did with our last sled.

I like the new looks of this rev and great to see a new sled out there.

They said 15Hp more than the polaris 800 that would make it 175hp ?. Unless they mean the old pro. They are all over the place with the rating.

Old Pro motor to make the 850 chart look that much more impressive. Sounds like it is just equal to the 800 HO of the Axys and Cat now with the 850.

I just don't see doo coming out with a bigger cc sled and having the previous sled kick it ass.. Would you

dont think that would that great of a marketing ploy long term..

It would be more believable if you said that! Lol It's marketing and opinion from a paid biased doo employee.

Comparing a hot tune prototype, to a in season 800 174 is not a fair comparison.

Anyway I'm glad there is no 174 850, easier on my pocketbook and the first year engine glitches should be addressed by the snocheck R and D.

2.5" 174 850, that's worth waiting for.

If you don't get more out of a new sled you likely don't need it. Lol.

i think most riders will get more out of this new sled than the previous xm or t3. its obvious which other brand they are trying to match.

so glad i came here to read all the bashing about the new rev. I think poo camp is nervous. A low boost 850 etec will be the sled to own plain and simple. BTW thats the 2022 stock release rumor for anyone wanting to start a thread.

I rode an axys and that motor is smooth, throttle response is crisp and lightweight, i was impressed that it only took 5 years for Polaris to make their own etec and bring it to market.

All that aside, im loving this sport right now and we are pretty lucky to have a few companies pushing each other to develop these machines to where they are today.

$10 bucks on "Anti Gravity lift" from Poo camp!!! LOL

Get over it and move on
Not picking on the doo - I think they brought a lot to the table for 2017. But jpmez69 has a point - the 07 XRS was a lump, as was the 08 XP (owned them, and come to think about it my 04 Rev wasn't half the sled of the 03.5 Rev prototype, either). Yet the advice of "get over it and move on" doesn't apply to the poor Dragon owners, or those who had issues with the 2012 Proclimb - those sleds saw refinements the same as ski-doo, but were painted as junk by the entire sledding community, save for the few that actually owned them and had good luck, but any words of praise simply fell on deaf ears. Must be the "rose colored glasses" and doo-laid given out with every purchase of a ski-doo.
My point? ALL of them have issues, and ALL of them have their good points. None of the other manufacturers have released the 2017's, and I sure haven't ridden any of them either to make an educated decision. Nor will I EVER buy a 1st year production sled again, as the 2nd year model was always far better after the guinea pigs exposed the flaws so the manufacturer could get the bugs out...

So is the coolant sandwiched between 2 layers in the tunnel?

Sounds like the poo guys are nervous that they won't have anything to brag About anymore especially now that Doo is pushing real close to their weight (when comparing 163x3 to 165x3) while having a motor that is more efficient by a long ways and will have a heck of a lot better reliability and the cat guys have that deer in the headlight look wondering if their world just collapsed because now not only is the Doo lighter but now it has more power and skinnier.

Lol. Just figured I'd stir this pot a little more.

For a guy who posts a thread seeming sore over the bashing, you sure seem to dish it out.

It's interesting how even with all that extra horsepower and track, a doo is hard pressed to keep up when things get sketchy, let alone make a pro look stupid.

The new doo has a lot of good ideas. Had polaris not set the bar for weight, I'm betting no one else would be following suit. Polaris was the first to offer the wide open boards, looks like doo is following suit on that as well. Why is the new doo a little narrower? Could it be to mimic the Pro??

Companies feed off one another, learning from what works and what doesn't.
