Re: 2017 New Summit

im impressed with the new rev, i think that once again skidoo has made the high mark for a mountain sled. I just knew that as soon as poo dropped the best they could do with the axys, doo was gonna release something that poo couldnt match. Best case polaris has a larger motor in 5 years or more. Until then the king of the hill has arrived.

That said i rode a 880 BB etec and although it was nice.... it was no turbo. A stock 2 stroke turbo will take the crown pretty dam fast.

They have brought a lot of changes to the summit for this year. And a lot of the new changes while good, are still unproven. Might want to wait till there is a few out in the wild and it has a season under its belt before proclaiming its "king of the hill".

They say 10% more HP and in the above, 10HP more, so which is it? 10% of 155 is 15.5HP.

Seems like they can't get their numbers straight lol

10HP... Ya I saw they confused it a few times with 10% in some of their information.

Does anybody know if the steering post location is moved further forward as well due to the increased foot and leg room up front? In the current XM, with the riser mounted half azz straight to the post to avoid the poor feedback there is not much room to bring your body forward anyways. Obviously in some cases this is not an issue(wrong foot forward side hill). If the post location is the same I can see a lot of post forward kits being sold. 2" post forward and 2.5" more foot room up front would be awesome!!!

Dave said he did a climb on the new 165 850cc, then jumped back on the older 800 etec 174 and was not able to even go up in its marks.. That's huge guys

It would be more believable if you said that! Lol It's marketing and opinion from a paid biased doo employee.

Comparing a hot tune prototype, to a in season 800 174 is not a fair comparison.

Anyway I'm glad there is no 174 850, easier on my pocketbook and the first year engine glitches should be addressed by the snocheck R and D.

2.5" 174 850, that's worth waiting for.

Re: OK.. Fresh thoughts, new machine the new summit..

They increased the stroke not the bore. Even though all things being equal it would pull a little harder. If it is like the 800 it will start one handed in a half pull.

Thanks Keith, I guess the extra stroke will make this thing pull like a freight train. And who knows maybe they have addressed the recoil effort required. For some reason my AXYS is easier to pull than my 2015 Polaris and both have same compression and recoil size?? Maybe there is some kind on decompression valve? Either way when they get so easy that it just takes a flick of the wrist to start, there is definitely no use for heavy e-start system.

Isn't the hard to pull over the bigger magnetos required for fuel injection?
Ptec ? easy and etec is a pull when cold in comparison.
Both same compression .

I like the new looks of this rev and great to see a new sled out there.

They said 15Hp more than the polaris 800 that would make it 175hp ?. Unless they mean the old pro. They are all over the place with the rating.
