A few snowflakes falling in town today which hopefully means more than a few falling up top. We have been getting reports of improving conditions, especially if you can find pockets of windloaded snow.

NOTE: We are having issues with our Chappell Groomer and currently cannot groom the trail. Please stand by for updates.

[FONT=&quot]Great news! The Chappell groomer is all fixed up thank to some hard work from the staff at Alpine Country Rentals

[FONT=&quot]Another week of sun is forecasted for the Valemount area leading up to and through the Christmas holiday season. We have been getting the odd snowfall throughout the week and we are receiving reports that the riding has improved quite a bit. At the time of writing this report, light snow has been falling in the valley bottom throughout the day, so fingers crossed that we will see some good benefits to the alpine areas.

[FONT=&quot]Please note that the new snow is sitting on some interesting and potentially weak layers. We may see some slippery stuff if the new snow stiffens up a little bit as the potential for slab avalanches will increase. Please ride safe and aware. Always check in with www.avalanche.cabefore you head out into the backcountry.

We like to hear from you. Please let us know what you find out there by posting riding conditions and pictures on our Facebook page or by tagging @ridevalemount in your Instagram and Facebook posts.

Holiday Grooming Schedule

Allen and Chappell Creek will be groomed tonight Dec 21 and all trails, as needed, Friday 22nd.

No grooming Dec 23rd and No collections on Christmas or Boxing Day

Grooming of all riding areas will commence Boxing Day evening and throughout the holidays.

All three managed snowmobile areas, Allen, Chappell and Clemina, will be groomed daily throughout the holiday season (user numbers and weather conditions dictate need) Riders should be prepared to purchase trail passes at all times. Propane will be brought up to the Allen and Clemina cabins the night of the 22nd for some holiday season cookery.

Mountain Caribou – The Allen and Chappell Creek Riding areas are surrounded by wildlife closures. Please educate others and report any witnessed infractions to the RAPP Line at 1877-952-7277. Files are available on our website that can be put into your gps or phone to help you understand the boundaries. Failure to comply with regulations or to report infractions will only result in further restrictions and potential loss of the area and none of us want that. STAY IN BOUNDS!

Merry Christmas and Ride safe!

Sounds like you need a guide Cat. Yes, conditions sure could be better, but my clients had an amazing day yesterday!
