Hey all. I’ve been hit by the power valve fairy. Thought I’d post up a pic. Every season start, and mid season I’ve been watching for this because believe it or not, it’s a known problem.
This is not a bitch, or a rant. I knew I should have touched up the corners of the power valves, I didn’t, and now.... well now I don’t know what I’m going to do. Still have warranty, kinda.

Easiest thing, put a spacer between the T where the bolt holds the power valve on the and lower power valve block is. Or grind down the tips. I’d go for the spacer.

Just find a washer that fits snug around the shaft of the power valve to gain that little bit of clearance back.

D&d, bikeman, and other companies have sold spacers like this for the 700’s for years.

So I'm following, this is from carbon building up on the tips of the exhaust valves and by thousands of an inch are rubbing the piston? Seems crazy to happen at 1300 miles. Although I know my liberty power valves would get quite dirty over a season of riding.

It’s from the power valves opening and closing and squashing the aluminum block that’s used for the stopper. Because the actual power valve itself is made out of some really hard stuff. It’ll break off before it stretches.

Thanks for clarifying

No worries. The only way to fix it without buying a new block at the bottom is to space it out a little. Unsure why they use aluminum washers. Maybe so it’ll be softer then the cast block. So instead of doing more damage to the block the aluminum washer will absorb it instead. And not muck up the block.

Mine look great too, besides the power valve groove. I’m at 2400 kms. Keep an eye on it
