2016 m8000 sputters at high rpm

Hey guys. We made one trip at the end or November. Sled has been sitting since then. Went for a rip in the ditch today and it won't reach 8000rpm. Starts to sputter and pop at about 7000 rpm. Not sure what the issue is. We are trying to plan a trip for end of December so any help would be great.

Sounds like a fuel issue. How does it idle? Did you try reving it up on a stand?

How do i know if they are?

check that the APV cables have not fell off the servo motor

may need adjustment

Remember it's set up for higher elevation. Fresh Gas, can do plugs, check belt weights in clutch if equipped. More than likely one of those will help or solve past that it's page #2 solutions checklist.

Power valves are supposed to open just under 7000 so that's where I'd look first

Update.

Used a step ladder and a strap (as seen above) and gave it some wot. First couple times did the same thing and sputtered a bit. Then next time it reached full revs. Couple more wot with the oll strap and ladder then took it out. Everything seems normal.

So is it fixed? Doesn't seem like I fixed anything. Makes me feel a little uneasy heading to the mountains with it. ��

Clean your power valves. They could be sticky, and broke free.

if you even need a new seat for that sled I have a mint one for you.

When you were done your last ride in November, did you leave it idiling for a while.
You might of loaded it up pretty good with fuel when you shut it off.
Do you have a pipe and some typeof fuel box on it? Maybe you are way to rich.
The way you are saying it clears up on the ladder, sounds like a rich situation.
Thats not a APV problem. Clogged or dirty valves won't cause a motor to spit and sputter or bog down.
Any where from 7000-7200 the valves will open.
With your sled sitting there, not running, if you tap the thottle lever lightly, can you hear the throttle safety switch clicking..
That could be a problem. They sometimes go..
