2014 Pro rmk 858 issues

wondering if anyone else is having these issues like all of us down in pincher creek area are having with our RK Tek 858 kits.

I've been the semi lucky one and had atleast a running sled but not running well. My Sled for an 858 seems gutless (2012 stock freeride beat it) it seems to have a bog and stutter at 79-8000 rpm then was good. Now I cant get over 7950 without it bogging real bad then coming back on again. It usually takes anywhere from 1-8 pulls to start it after its been running for awhile. RK Tek is no help and wont give me any info i talked to jeremy kinzer about the map on the boondocker box and says its good.

Polaris has told me that these new 2014 sleds have different maps in the ecu and that it keeps switching between maps and thats why im having this issue. it doesnt quite seem right just wanna see what others thought of there 858 2014 pros

You went to rk when Linderman lives at your back door? That's karma I think lol. I used rk for my 09 800r and it worked good but like said he was no help.

What do your plugs look like after it bogs? would run it and let it bog for a good long time, then pull plugs and check, see if they are wet etc and where the burn pattern is. What's the compression on the 858 kit? hard starting when hot typically screams low compression (not really suspect it here) but would check just to be sure its not the problem. After that is probably fuel, not sure about the mapping, what happens if you blank to 0's on the BD box and start fresh off the stock map or at least start dropping down from the numbers you have? Can you tune at the 7500-8000 rpm? Does anyone in your group have a PC 5 or Bully Dog that you can try? Do you have EGTs or an A/F on it to see what the temps/ratios are? Is it possible to remove the BD box and try it without it, without hurting the motor? ?If it goes away you'd know it was the BD box at least. I would think the stock map might be overfueled for a stock motor, is it getting tricked by a pipe sensor or something else?

i had a 04 summit 800 done out to 827 by rk-tek went through 3 motors, kept getting four corner seizing on one cylinder and broken rings on other ,same every time. finally sent cylinders to mongoose in bc and sled ran great and pulled hard after that.

I know I should have known lol I got sold by a salesman is what happened hahaha. It goes to linderman this week. Honestly plugs looked pretty good and not wet or burnt and not really grey or white. It happened at the last couple rides of the season and honestly never got much chance to rip it apart after. Ya there is prob over 20 of these sleds around here and I know of atlest 14 that are having this issue but much worse. yup we can tune at the 7500-8000 rpm things seem good and compared numbers with others while up in revy and we seemed pretty much spot on that way. No PC 5 or bullydog units yet I'm wanting to try that Bullydog myself and see how it works. I tried without the BD box and it ran even worse than it was. I'm gonna mount full egt and A/F gauge on it this year. I'm thinking it's the box BD was having issues earlier in the year with them and ours were all backordered for awhile. I think lindermann will be able to solve the issue just wanna see if anyone else had some issues with these machines or if it's just an issue with ours and where we got them done by.

You've probably tried the guys at Boondocker already. On my turbo stuff I've always found Reed on the Canadian side or Jared on the U.S side to be helpful. Also check out snowest forums. They usually have pretty good technical posts or guys that are willing to share the numbers from their boxes that are working.

So the numbers on he's web site for the 2014 don't work??
i would unhook the boondocker box and see if the starting problem goes away.
It could be a bad tps, failed within range.
Is there a update for the boondocker box??

I tried unhooking the box and ran like a toilet so i plugged box back in. I havent called Boondocker yet this season i should give them a call im gonna be dropping it off at lindermans this week. I looked at snowest a bit last year and tried talking wirh guys that ride in the flathead area like eureka and whitefish most were giving me very similar higher rpm numbers. im sure brent will dial it in.
