2013 XM Fuel Gauge

Fuel gauge not reading correctly - sometimes reads empty and low fuel light on after just filling ! Anyone have this problem - can I just replace fuel float sensor or does the entire fuel module have to be replaced

Doo's fuel gauges have always been a pain in the butt. My '07 with the clear tank or the old view tubes on the 80's yamaha's were still the best solutions.

I grind a site line into the side of the tank, i've done both my RS and freeride and half a dozen or more of my buddy's sleds. cause the stock gauge is garbage.

I've heard of a few others doing this a while back but hadn't seen any pictures. How thick is the outer black cover & how thick is the remaining clear?

I'd hate to cut right through.

Ya how much meat is left there. I like that if it hasn't caused you any grief. Only true and accurate way to know for sure.

I just did this to my '15 XM this morning after the last 2 rides having my fuel gauge reading full the whole day.

I just used a dremel with a sanding disk, then cleaned it up with a wire wheel. The black part of the tank is only about 3/16" thick and is just a covering for the white interior tank. Just make sure you only take enough off to remove the black portion

Just did mine! Slow and steady and it looks good in the end.

Used a Dremel with variable speed, 2 different grits of sand paper wheels. Then followed up with the little polishing wheels and red polish in the dremel kit and some turtle was after.

Looks pretty good in the end.
