Not to sure what I should do. I have a 2013 summit 800 that hasn’t really been rode for over a year and a half. Kids are getting ready for Xmas sledding now. Anyway they rode it around our place and it appears the primary isn’t fully opening so the belt has no slack on it and it doesn’t fully disengage. Just wondering how people are cleaning these and with what.( tried compressed air)Or what should I look for to try and fix it. Ordered the clutch puller was going to take it off and see if I can see anything. But before I do is there something I should maybe try. Thanks for any advice.

Sounds to me like you should take it apart and put a rebuild kit in it.

Its pretty easy
Is there timing marks or anything I should no before pulling it off. I’m an electrician trying to play mechanic lol. Appreciate the help. Want to learn to try and do more so I figure I’ll wreck the old sled first

YouTube have lots of videos pretty easy to do. Recommend a rebuild if it hasn’t been touched for awhile

Ya there's a little dot on the big side of the clutch, a little arrow on the side of the skinny piece and should be a mark on the crank too.

I just did mine yesterday. I would have took pics had I known they'd help haha

Google water method to get primary off and skip the puller. Mark all the sheaves with paint pen so you can align them again for balance when putting it back together. The spring cup bushing probably broke and is hanging up the primary. You can build a clutch tool to take it apart with some ready-rod and aluminum scrap.

The water trick.

Remove bolt from primary. Wrap it with plumbing thread tape. Lots of it. Tip Sled on its side. Grab the beer you’re drinking and dump about an ounce in the bolt hole. Rethread the primary bolt and crank on it, it will bottom out on the water which will cause it to pull or pop the clutch. For ease and time he could just drop the primary off at a snowmobile shop and have them rebuild it for you or make a clutch tool and do it yourself.

You don't need any special tools to rebuild these. Just a lil muscle to get the spring cap back on lol

Same. Hold on the trail beer is always handy. I always carried a box and wrench, plumbing, tape, and some fluid Old XM‘s had the ring gear behind the primary. when I spit a belt, it would Grab and pile up behind the primary clutch I historically go through lots of belts, so this happened a lot of the time. Lol
