Hey guys I have never bought a new sled or any new toy. I am thinking pretty hard about picking up a 2013 M8 on tuesday. Anyone with hints tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I will be keeping it stock but I will be getting a can for it what is everyone liking on these sleds and can I put it on right away or should I run it for a few days stock for the break in???

Put the can on it. Heat cycle a couple times and ride the piss out of it.

Putting a can on your sled right off the bat won't really make a difference for your break in procedure. I'd say I see 85% of our M800s go out the door with a MBRP or JAWS can right off the bat. We instruct to do to the same break in procedures. As for the specifics on the break in procedure, your dealer should go over those with you after purchase. Basically ride it like a dirtbike for your first couple of rides. Don't go on a 40km one speed ride to your buddy's house down the road, and don't get on it the first time and pin the throttle. You want a variance of temperatures and thus a variance of speeds for the engine.

I have a 13 proclimb and love it, however, I agree with the previous writer, wait a couple days and see what the 14s are like. Then in a couple weeks snow check a 14 unless they are changed significantly. No one wants the first year of a machine. Too many gremlins to be worked out.

Any cat we have had gets no break in and a can right off the get go. We simply pull rope, let warm up properly, and ride it like its stolen right from the get go. Weve been riding cats since 03 and never had one engine problem whatsoever. My advice is break it in exactly how you would normally ride, don't baby it just ride it, that 800 HO loves to be full throttle. Riding it in the mountains is actually the best place to break it in as you dont have long stretches to hold it WOT for extended periods of time and can vary your throttle position without actually trying to

Unless ur gettn a smokn deal, y not wait to snowcheck for bit more $$$?

Ya I talked to a few dealers and they said to wait till this coming tuesday cause that is when Cat announces what is coming in 2014. I am afraid that it may be big changes this year or next because of the yamaha/Cat rumours.
