Looked at a new Freeride on the floor today. Just can't see how the bolt could contact the cable. I know the guy in the vids bolt is longer than the one we looked at today.

sooo maybe the brp guy wasnt out to lunch when he said you shouldnt adjust your own stuff, i thought he was just making excuses.
Some people shouldn't adjust their own stuff...
Is it possible that if the throttle is already halfway (or more) open, like say if you are riding, and you pull the strap over it may stop the throttle from closing when you let go? He wasn't sitting at a standstill when this happened.Spun my strap around the bar today almost a whole 180' and theres no way it can catch the throttle cable with the stock bolt (even when the strap was positioned right beside the throttle) .I pulled on the cable as much as i felt comfortable and it never revved past idle. How fast would that sled be going to do that much damage and could the bolt pull the cable far enough past idle to get that thing going fast enough to do the damage he shows on the video? I don't believe it, he drove it in to a tree himself.

I've had the same issue on my 2012 Freeride. What's the setup like on the 2011 Freeride? Any problems there?
He said in the interview the sled quit when he jumped off. May in fact have been wearing a tether. Why wasn't he wearing his tether? At least BRP gave him one.
