What's the deal with this thing? All I want to do is take it off and throw it in the garbage. The dealer says to leave it on but it's seriously gay.

Its there to help keep the clutches cool. And its under your panel so its not like you have to look at it. But take it off if you want and let us know if you encounter any problems

Weight. Easier access to inspect or adjust clutches if it's not there. That's ok, it's already in the trash can.

Why dont you sell it instead of tossing it out. Lots of guys buying it to put on their sleds. If you are worried about the weight put 1/2 liter less gas in it. That should equate to the same amount.

HaHa. It continues to amaze me how guys will pull something off that weighs a half a pound because it is to heavy yet they will pack a 6 pack of beer up the hill or they could have a big chit and solve the weight issues. LMAO.

I am more worried about the weight on the seat. Somehow i think the 6-pack has something to do with that:beer:

Wish you would have tossed it in my trash can. Wanted to try it on my 2011

Somebody said they are around $50 and dealers are selling them left and right to older XP owners so they must work.

I haven't had any problems yet but i'm not an extreme rider. My buddy bought a 2012 this year so I'll be checking his when we ride to see if there's much difference

I didn't realize I was offending so many people. Would you guys feel better if I put it back on?

Just add it to the box of sleds parts that you have laying around your garage. Depending on your riding style you may find it doesn't make much difference on your machine. I have heard it does offer a bit of protection from getting snow on your clutches as well as keeping them cool. If you encounter these problems your solution is laying in a box in the corner.

the new cover will keep your belt 30-40 degrees cooler than any of the previous years. less heat means less slippage which means more hook up! if anyone wants to throws theirs out i will gladly take it off your hands! it will also prevent the clutch from eating through the side panel whan carving and sidehilling
