That headlight dimmer looks kinda familiar. Kinda 10 years ago familiar. Is that other switch held on with tie straps? That looks like something I would do after a go around with a tree!! Nice.

That's just what I've gathered. Sure a few people will tell you stories about how they got 4 years and 6000k out of one of these motors, but the majority of stories I've heard have them throwing cranks on or before the 2500km mark. Believe what you want but the fact is the Rotax 800 has a sealed crank bearing the receives no oiling and needs to be re-greased on a regular basis and the only way to do it is to split the cases and pull the crank. If anyone more informed than me believes that I am wrong please feel free to correct me but that is the way I understand it.

The bearings can be greased without splitting the cases on the newer 800s, but the mag side can be tricky. On the PTO side, there are 4 allen key bolts that you undo behind the primary clutch, and the seal comes off. Fill with grease, reseal. That's the easy one.... To do the mag side, you have to pull your recoil, remove the Magneto with a harmonic pulley puller, remove one of the stator bolts, and put some isoflex in through that hole. This takes a bit more effort. I hadn't regreased or even checked my 08, and in January was talking to a riding buddy about how we should regrease soon, and the next day, I piled up my PTO outer bearing due to...... no grease left in PTO bearings! Should have my crank back from CVTech-AAB today. Lesson learned i guess.

800k on a 2 stroke top end? Sounds like a good deal to me! Just hope the restof the sled or my body would hold up that long!!!

yup its the same one that used to be on a 1990 Tundra. and that RER button is A La 2007 XRS but the bar warmer switches on the console are awesome. and should be easyt to move that HL switch too to make room for the NOS button. also just sell that 2.5 on KIJIJI and buy the 3" camo
