There were minor gremlins that some sleds saw.

The non estart X's with the standalone headlight switch caused some issues but those issues never were an issue with pre-2012 Freerides that had the same switch. Not sure if 2012 Freerides had any of the issues. For 2012 they increased the voice coil size to reduce duty time which puts a great demand on the stator. When hooked to the BUDS we could actually see a drop in voltage on the voice coils if the headlight switch was switched between hi-low beam. Not a big deal but it would throw a code. Also, the switch could actually stick half way engaging both the hi and low beam at the same time putting a very large demand on the stator.

These issues didn't seem to be an issue on estart sleds. Mostly because they had a large battery to pull power from. A larger capacitor would likely have cured the 2012's issues on the non estart as the small one they come with wasn't enough.

Mostly with this issue many people were chasing a bog at WOT, some people felt it was an over rev and the system was protecting itself. Once I cleared the codes and disconnected my headlight I never once had this bog at WOT again.

Other than that I believe I ran about 1400miles with my season cut shorter due to a new job but completly happy with my '12.

My riding buddy Maierch's hauls the mail and never misses a beat. I'd buy one for sure if i was in the market for a new sled.

As Pistonbroke says I never had a problem in about 1700kms last season. The sled just runs amazing all the time.

I did have a problem with running out of fuel on extremely deep days (3' + of Fresh) at about 120km but a lot of that has to do with my inability to ride at any throttle position other than wide open on days like that!

2200 kms and flawless. 1 belt, a little gas, a little less oil, and a great ride. You asked how far on a tank of gas; I don't have a clue! Guess I don't ride hard enough or far enough, hahahaha!

I don't carry extra fuel and haven't even been close to the bottom of the tank. They are excellent on gas and oil.

I did have one problem though; I didn't get near enough riding in last winter..............:winkmsn:

a 2012 etec as your first sled? you are a good man BShap

keep in mind that bad boy will probably have 2 years of bumper to bumper if it was snowchecked.. alternatively you can probably buy 3 years of bumper to bumper for $300 from your dealer

you buying from a dealer or person ?

i was going to see what new non currents i can find around here. found a 2012 polaris pro 800 155 for 11,999 and theres a promotion: Rebates Up To $2,000 AND Financing Option OR Rebates Up To $1,700 AND Financing Option AND 2nd year Powertrain Warranty.
i also found a 2012 skidoo summit 800 sp 154 for 11500, theres a promotion for UP to 2000 in rebates.
also 2012 skidoo summit 800 X 154 for 11500 but it has 700km on it.

hoping listed price does not already take into account for the rebate. ??

not sure if i should spend more money but getting the peace of mind some moron hasnt beat the machine to s&%t
or take a chance with used and save some cash... age old debate.

sorry this has gotten a bit off topic. :)

When you have it over like the picture, it'll start right up again, I like stealth quiet (I like to ride late around the home, near other houses :police-035:) and it's quiet, lots of go, and easy to ride. Fits me good.

My first sled was a 2012 freeride I snowchecked last year and I can't say anything bad about it. And I rode lots of other folks sleds last year and prefer my etec. And others who tried my sled said they liked it and that it rode better than the earlier year xp's.

My 2012 Etec from Martin has a bazillion kms on it and it never missed a beat. Still on the original belt and it was a monster all season. Best stock sled bar none and i truely believe this sled will go down as the best stock mountain sled ever built (up to 2012;)) I cant say enough good things about these machines. Anyone is welcome to pm or email me this winter and give the new XM a try in Valemount.

Yes Im a die hard do guy (have ridden everything and they all have good points), but i ride the bag off of these sleds and they just plain work.
Come follow me......:common001:
