Trail report - December 7, 2012

We will be installing the posts on the lake on Sunday Dec 9th. This will confirm that the ice is safe for snowmobiles, but only where the posts are.
The trail has enough snow to ride but we still can’t groom as the ice may not be strong enough to hold the groomer where it has to cross beaver dams and lakes. If the weather stays cold we hope to groom for Christmas providing there is enough snow. The trails have trees removed and signage checked and is ready for use. If you see anything that creates a safety concern please contact us and if you can correct the problem we would be grateful for your assistance. Have a great riding season and join us in our activities. It is your trail pass that helps pay for costs and gives you permission to cross private property on some sections of the trail. Please display so the landowners knows you have the right to be on the trail on their property. Please stay on the trail or privileges could be revoked.

Trail Update December 14
The trail is open. The posts are out on Lac Ste Anne and grooming has begun. Sections groomed this week are L2 to I - Most of H and A1 to A4. The lake portion has not been groomed as there is only 12 inches of ice and we need 18 inches for the groomer. Some items to watch for - there is some flood water on the lake where the posts are and this week there was some mulching done on section M1 it was a short stretch but go slow through that piece to avoid any problems.

Jan 4, 2013 - Trail in great shape. Groomed from A4 to A, B to K to R. Even groomed the narrows C to D. The ice on lake is not quite there yet- the groomer weighs 18,000 lbs. and require 16 to 18” of ice to hold it. We bypass the lake to groom all areas. Will do M1 to M4, L3 to L6 and L1 to L2 next week. These sections do not get the traffic so are still good condition. The best riding is the west area as the country side is more pristine and a lot less users. Stage at Stanger Hills and ride from there is the ultimate experience. The ice is safe were the post are as it has been tested. Other parts of the lake we do not know. There is some flood water on some spots which happens when the heavy snow pushes the ice down and water seeps between the ice and the snow. If you see a safety concern please mark it or correct the problem. Pick up any garbage you see.

Are there any resent updates? How deep is the snow off trail? We are planning a trip 50 km North of that area.
