2011 Revelstoke Ladies Ride Planning Thread

There's a group of us from S&M who will look out for you Don't worry about being solo or not having anyone to help you, hang with you or ride with you

They break us into groups on Saturday and assign a leader and a follower to the group...they are there to keep an eye on us all and show us around for those who don't know the area. You'll meet peeps on Friday if you're there, so you can find a riding buddy to stick with for the weekend too

As for getting stuck in the trees...you won't be alone The girls can get ya unstuck too...it's not just a guy thing. The leader/follower will make sure we're not MIA and are there to help out the stucks. You may even learn some tricks to help you get unstuck easier yourself too

Ladies Ride...excuses that won't cut it.

"I don't know anyone"
You won't be alone. If you don't know anyone...you will in 5 minutes. There will be someone to hang with and lots of other riders of your ability.

"I've never riden with girls before...just the guys"
WTF!!! OVER!!! Then it's about time you did! Nothing boosts the confidence like riding with other 'like' riders and seeing what and how you can do it better...or that you do it better than you thought you did cuz you always compare yourself to the dudes.

"It's a long ways and I don't have a way there"
If you want to be there, make it happen. There are only a couple opportunities like this per year...one in this area. Life is short and if you want to make it happen, you will. There are lots of peeps coming from all over BC and AB that are more than eager to bring you along and take care of you on your solo trip.

"I'm scared of meeting new peeps and not being good enough"
Again...WTF!!!!!, OVER! I call Bullchit!
Get over it, get over yourself and hit the road lady! Noone cares how good you are...they just want to share in the passion of the sport and meet other riders that have the same interests. Have a few drinks, some laughs and expand our sledding horizons a bit. Every one of us that's preaching on here was in your shoes...most of us last year. If we've been there, done that...heed our advice.

His loss...leave him home.
Seriously..the dudes just do their own thing and there's lots of them to hook up with. We'll also make sure they have a riding group to hook up with if you like...and all the dudes are in the same boat...they are timid about new peeps but in the end are happy to meet new ridng buddies and end up having a blast doing their own thing.

"My sled might not be good in the mountains"
Then don't hit the 4 feet of pow and stay off the 80 degrees slopes!
Revy is built for all riders, all ability and all sleds. The trail is groomed right through the whole riding area almost...you can get around no worries. What's the worse case....you get stuck? Oh noooooo....

"I've never been to Revy, I don't know my way around"
All the more reason to go.
There are Revy locals assigned to the riding groups on Sat. They are based on ability of the riders and are taken to areas relative to thier abilities. They are there to keep track of everyone, show you the area and get you back safely. There's a leader and a follower there to escort your group around and get you back in time for din-din.

If you can get the time, get it. If you have holidays coming, take them. If all else fails, you will have the flu March 3 (to give you travel time)

Excellent.. I like it!

Soo these riding groups.. I could probably read back more but.. are they going to be created based on skill or.. how will you know? is there tryouts hahahaha?..seriously?

LOL...no tryouts. They go by what you say your ability is...but we kinda formed our own group last year all of similar ability. We didn't know each other but wanted to so we stuck together. There's nothing too extreme so no worries there. You hang out and break into groups...of 5 or 6ish...then head off to ride and meet back at a specified time.

I am a not a rookie rider (not a pro either) so I was just curious how it works....

This will be a first ever riding with other people I don't really know.. I either have some convincing to do or need to find a travel buddy

I have only recieved 4 registrations, I will start a list after I get the mail today. Please get them in right away I need to know numbers ASAP, also shoot me a p.m. if your boy will be joining us for dinner. Thanks.

That’s right ladies, we had so much fun last year, we are doing it again! Please join us for a day of riding
in the mountains and lunch at the new Boulder Mountain Emergency Shelter.
We will meet at the Boulder parking lot at 8 a.m. and would like to be on our way by at least 8:30. Registration
form on the next page of this newsletter or you can pick it up from the club’s website revelstokesnowmobileclub.
com Send it in right away so we have an idea on how many are coming. We need to know
the numbers for lunch and dinner arrangements as soon as possible. Dinner this year will be at McKenzie
Place at the Powder Springs (right downtown Revy). Emma says she will have three dinner specials. Your
$20 registration fee will cover lunch and the daily trail pass but you will pick up the tab for supper. We are
hoping to have some draw prizes for the evening and all money left over from the registrations will go towards
prizes as well. If anyone would like to donate a prize, it would be greatly appreciated.
This year we would like to mix up the groups a bit and maybe change after lunch so there is more of a
chance for everyone to meet each other. We will have a couple of the Search & Rescue guys and our special
guests along to show us some of those ‘good sledding spots’ and to help us get the right side back up. Got
to love those guys! Sure hope Rolanda can make it again.
If you are a new rider come and join us, there is a level of riding for everyone from the beginner to the expert
and it is all about meeting other female sledders and having a great day. We had a lot of laughs last
year, we got to meet a lot of other riders and some great friendships were made.
We really look forward to seeing everyone and guys, this would be a great Valentine gift for your girl. She
rides with us and you can ride with ‘Team Orphaned Husbands’ for the day.
Oh yea, wonder if the exotic dancer will be at the top of Turbo again this year. Could only happen in Revy.
