Just got the truck couple weeks ago with only 800 kms drove it for two weeks now check engine lights on any ideas I'm guessing its a emissions garbage problem. Just wanted to see if this has happened to anybody else and what they have done.

Starting from the off position, quickly cycle between on and off 3 times, ending with the key in the on position. (do not start). Any code that the truck has will come up where your mileage usually is. Write them down, and Google the codes.

i have a 2011 dodge 2500 diesel, light came on 2 days after i got it, on my way to get it checked the light went off, dealer said if the light isnt on there will be no code, so i just kept driving it, after afew months i took it back code was p2002, they did an update and then it was fine, now i keep getting u0001, but goes on and off every few days, you cant check for codes on the fourth gen that way, need a scan tool, i bought a nice one for 350

It is under warranty but I don't want to bring the truck in every week to have It fixed. Not worth the time so what have guys done to your trucks and how do you like it?

Delete, delete, delete. I agree you shouldn't have to but what a world of difference on these trucks. Any warranty items on the Dodges are usually all emissions related anyways. Plugged turbos, EGR issues, plugged DPF's. if you want to know your truck inside and out, hit up the Cummins Forum.

Any loss of power or speed limiting? Or other performance issues?
If not just drive it till you get time to get it into a dealer. Buying a code reader that is compatible with your truck year is a good idea too to help diagnose it.

You had one code pop up. Why not just get rid of the whole truck? Just kidding.

Get it checked out. Might be something really minor, or a one time thing. The worst thing you can do with these DPF equipped trucks is run them like a grocery getter and never run the highway to get them warmed up and into a regen. Also idling for long periods plugs them up pretty quick. And if you are still stock, always run with your exhaust brake on, helps keep things cleaned up until you can delete all that engine killing crap on it.

I drove mine 40k stock until I deleted. Never had an issue. And I actually did drive mine like a grocery getter. Some days in the winter I would drive to the gym which was 3 kms from my place. The poor girl would obviously never even see a temp by the time I got there and back home. I would take it on the highway for at least 20 minutes a week to do a regen. And I followed the severe service oil change intervals.

They are a bit underpowered and turbo laggy until you delete. I've also been on most of the Dodge diesel forums in the last two years reading everything I could on the 4th gens. These trucks are solid man, enjoy it.

Thanks for the info I drive usually 40 kms a day on highways as I live just out of the city, I'm gunna try the exhuast brake idea I'm looking at doing the full deletes at around 10 000 kms unless truck seems to have alot of problems other then the dpf.

I have the same truck, 2011 ram 2500 cummins. I strongly suggest DELETES! I have a H&S mini max (overdrive unlock), H&S intake manifold, EGR delete, 5" TBE, S&B cold air intake and I love it. What a difference it makes to these trucks. 40,000kms so far and no issues.

Well they handed you a bunch of BS! The code will stay stored with no light on.
