The first horse power numbers were released a 162.8 - however

According to Dynotech the 162.8 isn't the right number, it's 163.7, which peaks from 10,100-10,300, still making 163+ until 10,700 but torque falls off 4-5 lbs.

The 162.8 number came from a run with a sensor issue.

Great write up on the engine, there is a wealth of info on the site,
Check out Dynotech for the charts....worth the read...

And then go down to your favorite Yamaha Dealer an pick one up....

nice that they are finally releasing hp numbers....

I don't get towed out by yamahas. Those poor sled have enough dead weight to lug around, they don't need anymore.

 WOW....how original is that??? You forgot the part about it being a submarine, and heavy when it's stuck...cause none of the other sleds are heavy when stuck!!! hahahahaha we don't get stuck cause we go where ever we want without breaking a sweat, little man! :d
I'd like to see a poll done with a few hundred sledders to see how many Doo's to Yammys have been towed out in the past few years......hmmmmmm might not be too close! Don't get me started on the Shortcomings of the Doo's in the last 3 or 4 years. '06 was the last good sled they built, bumper to bumper!!!

Nuff said.........not a Doo thread here!!!

Wow looks like I touched a nerve. Ok I was busting balls on you yamaha guys and apparently you took it a little too serious. I think I do have to set the record straight a little bit here. Without a DOUBT ski-doo's have been towed out more than yamaha's. Buddy that's a no brainer. however you can't deny when ridden hard Yamaha's do have some durability issues. Our local dealer only sells about 5-10 sleds a year most of which are bravos and I know of 3 08 nytros that have had the bulkheads out of them. I had a buddy with a boosted apex which after a season of a half through a rod to the tune of $8000. This guy was coming off riding a rev for 3 seasons and rode his apex like he rode his rev and by the time he was done with his apex he ended up parting it out because there was'nt much left of it. The chassis fell apart around the engine. And you really can't say that yamaha has built a good sled bumper to bumper either. Tho 08 and 09 nytro's were ill handling and had some suspension issues. I'll give you the 2010 is an AWESOME machine. I could ride one of them all day long with little more pep. I do have a question. If Ski-doo's always break down so much and are not a good sled why do so many people keep buying them every year.

The biggest reason guys blow up a yamaha motor is because they get to greedy with the boost and run to much through a stock engine. I have a buddy that is on his fourth DOO motor and again the crank bearing has piled up. And he runs the sled completely stock. Everyone of the motors has been a crate motor from ski-doo. It was no big deal when the sled was on warranty but now he is not a happy guy. I ride an '07 Apex with an MCX turbo at 12-17lbs of boost. it has been the most reliable sled I have ridden. I have ridden the old 670's and different 800's but I still think the four stroke is the most reliable. Everyone is entitled to there opinions and that is mine. As long as you are happy with your machine thats all that matters. Lets just pray for lots of snow this season.:snow:

Ya my buddy's nytro at times had some big boost but it did have the pistons and rods done. As I said I'm not going to dispute the fact that yamaha's are more reliable. I also think in terms of performance comparing a stock nytro or apex to a stock 800 is not really apples to apples. I would say comparing to a 600 is probably a bit more apt and with that comparison I think in terms of reliablility and fuel economy I think the doo 6 stands up OK. I'm not trying to turn this thread into a big pissing match, but I gotta say Pink or I mean rasberry's nytro response gave me a bit of a chuckle. I'm only teasing you guys take it easy;):beer:

I wouldnt say a 600 but somewhere in the 700-800 class, not the 800-900 class, saying that, I love my Apex and wouldnt trade it for anything right now, I have learned to ride it (very steep learning curve) and enjoy it more every time we go out, I am non boosted and plan on keeping it that way, maybe gearing and clutching but thats it. My wife has a 600 Doo 2008 rev style, personally I dont like it, this may sound weird, but the steering feels heavy to me, my Apex feels lighter. I am going to move the limiter straps this year and see if that helps, but she likes it so thats all that matters. Its all personal preference.

I have rode pretty much every sled on the market and own numerous current chassis and I have solved the great manufacture depat. They all suck, they dont have enough power. That must be the case because I allways start working on them in august spending tons of cash on aftermarket parts. So they must suck. Dont agree, give me two weeks on your sled and It will be a p.o.s. too.
