it was pretty dang awesome. thanks for all the hard work mrs polcat!!!!! my one and only complaint, which nothing could be done about by mrs. polcat, was the fact that while in line, many people were going for seconds, before a lot of people got firsts. especially the meat dishes, i did see a lot of people coming out with their seconds of just meat! but other than that, it was a blast, and i look forward to being there again next year

Holy crap, not sure how a person could handle seconds...my guts are still stretched, and I only went up once.

Actually the veggie plate wasn't that bad..... I got one sausage and a cheese burger patty, and that was about it.......guess we need more meat dishes next year........ Guess i went a little overboard with the buns too, eh?

Lucky for me, Terry fed me a quesadilla well before I got in line! BUT what I did have off the salad and veggie table was terrific!! Thanks again Mrs Polcat for organizing all of this - It was great!

Thanks for organizing the potluck Mrs. Polecat. All the delicious dishes to choose from and surprisingly very little left over after the feast. To maybe solve the meat dish shortage next year will have to look into roasting a pig.

I thought the buffet was fantabulous and I saw some pretty big plates coming out of there. I was one of those who got 'firsts' quite late and there wasnt much left; however, I must confess that I saw this coming and made sure I got dessert on my first pass through. I even got cheesecake!!

Please don't cut down on the salads too much as that is all my kids and I really eat. The meat dishes looked great, but my girls and I are birds!! I did manage to lose my baking pan and serving spoon in all the hubbub, but they are just old camping dishes anyway, so no harm done. I would suggest reminding people to bring dishes AND serving utensils. I brought one for our halibut dish, and then saw someone had swiped it for a different dish... hahaha!!

Thanks again for all your hard work Mrs. Polcat: it was awesome. If you need any help at all next year, please just let me know. I'd be happy to be your sidekick :)

perhaps next year, for those who participate in the potluck give out wristbands, or chips for. as eventhough there was a lot of food...there was more people...that came, and im thinking some may have thought it was a free meal, turn in your chip or wristband for your plate, then it would be more controlled, - you could have a list of how many chips you needed when you signed up and gave your list of what your bringing that way we could have a good idea of how many plates.

see i always have lots of ideas......but they seem to come to me after the fact....lol

it was an awesome turn out...

Pig roast sounds like a fantastic idea. And so does the idea of issuing wrist bands for those partaking in the potluck. Maybe issue 3 bands per dish or something along those lines and that will help things along. That and we need a big ass coffee maker laced with Baileys to go along with desert. Maybe that would have kept me up later on the nights I crashed too early. lol :)

I think that a pig roast is a fantastic idea, along with wrist bands(perfect). Still have a pot luck style salad and desert bar and maybe a nother $5 per mouth or plate to offset cost of pig or beef, or both. What ever you folks deceid for next year it will be great. You can count on mrs bigdaddy and my self to help out, we have done stuff like that before(pig not beef)but can`t be that diffrent. :)

Talking about cooking a pig for the next jamboree , I know where to rent a cadilac of a cooker. This is the unit we rented to cook a wild boar 3 weeks ago for a buddies wedding.

A link to my wifes website were you can see the cooker.

i do like the wrist band idea a lot, and think i will do that for next year. i will also have lots of serving spoons and forks etc... but as for cooking a pig or side of beef - i am thinking that is something that i will need to talk about with the mods and rknight. in the meantime please give me more ideas or input. thanks again everyone! :d
