I have recently purchased 2010 Polaris Sportsman 800. Im looking to put some rims and tires. I have decided on the ITP 312 rims but I am wondering about the tires...Mudlite XTR's or the Maxxis ZIlla?

Also, I heard that the widest tire you can put on the 2010 Sportsman is a 9" tire because it will rub???

Welcome to the site

9" wide on the front if you keep the stock backspacing yes

I would definitely take the Zillas over the XTR's anyday

sinse you are going with 312 rims you can go 10" wide maximum on the front. I would go with zillas. smooth ride, very light and great mudding capability.

Ohhh okay.

Whats the differece about the 212's versus 312's that will allow the 312's to the 10's?

What do ya'll think about the 28x9-14's for the front and the 28x10-14's for the rear?('Zillas) The Mudlite Xtr's that i was thinking about are the 27x9-14's and the 27x11-14's.

I have heard that if I go with 9's all the way around it may look strange bc of the size of the bike.

212's will allow for 10" wide up front. Any aftermarket rim without a stock offset will allow a 10" tire up front. the zilla fronts should be 28x9-14 and the rears should be 28x11-14. i would definataley go with skinny front, wide rear.

ohhh okay but as far as the 212's and 312's go.....as long as they do not have the stock offset i will be able to run 10's. I guess the reason why Im asking is bc I was also looking at the Mudlite XL's because I have a few friends that have them and they seem to be a good all around tire. Would you happen to know what the stock offset is?

Would you say there is an adcantage to running skinny tires in the front and wides in the rear versus all four being the same size?

not sure what the stock offset is. running skinnies in the rear will cause it to dig alot more. running wides in the front will make it harder to steer and make the front end want to float alot more. the ideal setup is skinnies in the front and wide in the rear.
