A couple days ago i'm sitting at a set of lights on Yellowhead. I get a sniff of something burning. Figured must be someone burning up. Get to where i'm going, get out of my truck and WOW!! A real strong burning smell. Just about seems like rubber, maybe Trani?? Everything seems to be OK. It's happened a couple times since. Not sure what's goin on..
I have the truck booked for some warranty work. Maybe catch it before she burns down!!

Do you know what the smell could be from??

kind of vague...but did you change anything or have anything done to the truck (new tires, oil change etc) that may have caused the burning smell.

Can you sniff it out and see where its coming from?

Missed that. Sorry It's a 6.4. Nothing new on the truck. Talked to Ford they mentioned DPF also. My 08 never burnt that hot.

Checked under and found nothing. I rinse it myself with just water from my Hotsy. Keeps it clean and no burning soap smell. I have it into Ford this morning for some other warr. work. I will have them check it out. Thanks..

Got it back from Ford. They found no problems, codes etc. They figured just a DPF burn. I will keep a eye on it. Rather a nose on it.. lol.. Sure seems to get real hot. Thanks!!

does your regen light come on just before it starts to smell? or do you feel a loss of power...or does your fuel mileage go through the roof?

Last couple times I got the burning smell no regen light. Only time light comes on if it goes into regen when I'm on the Hiway. And then I can't smell anything when i'm going 100 + km.

ya but you dont want a diesel running to hot same with a sled heat is a killer. you should almost toss a gauge in there see were it runs when the regen mode is on cause you certainly dont wanna exceed that 1500 degree mark for much more than a few seconds
