2010 dragon cutting out on top end

I have a 2010 dragon with a new motor and new computer and VR and it's cutting out on the top any end . Any ideas ?

By cutting out, what are you implying? Sled is losing complete power and turning off? Losing RPMs/bogging?

Have you checked the primary spring and the condition of the reeds?

Might be the solenoid valve on the power valves or the valves themselves are sticking.

Sled runs good up till 7900 rpm then it falls on its face . Can't get it to hit the 8150 mark .I cleaned the exhaust valves and check for cracked in the rubbers . All was good along with the clutch spring isnot broke .

when you say falls on its face, you mean it cuts out and loses power or is it holding 7900 rpm?. if its holding rpm then i would look closer at your clutches imo.

Might be hitting the rev limiter and the digital tach isn't quick enough to read the high revs. What wieghts are you running at what elevation?

Thats too light move up to 66 grams

I agree. My wife's crossfire 600 has 70g weights in it which are too heavy for around Red Deer. It will only pull 7700 rpm on Sylvan Lake.

I am having the exact same problem with my 2009 Dragon 800 SB. Wasted $1,400 at the dealer last winter having them go through it front to back to find it and it's never been solved. All updates have been done, new voltage regulator and ECU 3 years ago, EGT sensor, injectors and a few other things I cant remember right now were done last year. I'll have to ride and look at my RPMs. Not trying to hijack thread but will be following close, about ready to trade but other then this problem I love this sled.

Here is my thoughts........rule out each component...

1. clutching
2. fuel
3. electrical
4. compression and reeds

1. clutching, go borrow some weights from a buddy and load the thing up. Overloading the clutch will only bring RPM's down. On a Polaris you can run Arctic Cat weights, so borrow from your cat buddy and see if you can get the engine to stop cutting out. YOU WILL NOT SEE THE OVER REV SITUATION BEFORE IT GOES INTO LIMP OR SAFE MODE.

2. Do a pump pressure test and voltage draw to rule out the pump being wore out. Fuel filter's can cause a lean situation and make the sled fall on its face. Pull your pump and check the return filter in the tank and make sure its not plugged as well as the filter socks on the pick ups.

3. Electrical, check your Capacitor and relay for proper function. On the site you will find a thread I started a couple years ago about TPS set up. The TPS can cause a bunch of problems. I have found some dealers can not set them up well. Dielectric grease is always a good thing to keep moisture out of your electrical connections.

4. do a compression test and check your reeds for cracks as well as clean your exhaust valves

I can't stress enough that SOME dealers are not your best mechanics, they can't put the test time on sleds that the owner can. They spend more time in the shop and less in actual ride time. If you are mechanically inclined you will be able to handle the things I have mentioned here.

I am currently going through my own issues on a turbo build of mine but my situation is a little different then yours but not far off.

I finally got some heavier weights and got them in stalled and it has not made any difference. Gonna try a new fuel filter and check the reeds I guess .

I read somewhere that you can get a cheaper filter from an auto parts store instead of the high prices dealer filters. May want to research that before you go shopping.

New fuel filter did not help mine. Unfortunately the snow melted here before I got the chance to do anything more with mine

well, my turbo was cutting out due to a weak connection at the electrical plug to the fuel pump. The fuel pump was not getting a strong 14volt current.
